My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair... But Now They're Content to Wear Stars on Their Brows is the debut album by psychedelic folk band Tyrannosaurus Rex (later known as T. Rex). It was released on 5 July 1968 by record label Regal Zonophone.

The Kinks - At The BBC: Radio & TV Sessions And Concerts: 1964-1994 [5 CD, 2013/FLAC/@320]

Limited box set from the British rockers. This release is collated from all of the BBC owned Kinks recordings that still exist in the archive and charts the inexorable rise of the band: from the first steps on the Pye label, to the glory days as one of the greatest acts of all time. The BBC gave the band a platform and support at crucial stages in their career and The Kinks At The BBC could be seen essentially as an alternate Greatest Hits, a musical growing up in public. This incredible archive represents a great set of previously unreleased recordings in the Kinks catalog. The collection has been brought together by trawling the BBC archives, but also by inviting contributions from fans. This is a first for the band as these recordings have never been available in one place before. The Kinks At The BBC is a triumphant collection of the defining moments of a truly seminal British band, as witnessed, broadcast and archived by the voice of the nation, the BBC.

Led Zeppelin - The Complete Studio Recordings (10 CD, 1993/FLAC)

The Complete Studio Recordings is a ten compact disc box set by the English rock group Led Zeppelin, released by Atlantic Records on 24 September 1993. It contains all nine of the original Led Zeppelin studio albums digitally remastered, plus an expanded version of the posthumous release Coda. The discs are physically paired together in double-disc booklets and arranged in chronological order, with the exception of Presence (placed between Houses of the Holy and Physical Graffiti) being paired with Houses of the Holy in order to keep the two discs of Physical Graffiti together in the same case.

Four bonus tracks were added to the Coda disc. These were the previously unreleased "Baby Come On Home" which had appeared on Led Zeppelin Boxed Set 2 (1993), along with the previously unreleased tracks that had surfaced on the 1990 box set: "Travelling Riverside Blues" and "White Summer/Black Mountain Side", as well as the "Immigrant Song" B-side "Hey, Hey, What Can I Do". This expanded version of Coda created for the box set was also later released to digital stores in 2007 with the digital release of the full Led Zeppelin catalog, but with "Travelling Riverside Blues" omitted due to it already being included in BBC Sessions (1997).

Renaissance 1969-1979 [FLAC]

The history of Renaissance is essentially the history of two separate groups, rather similar to the two phases of the Moody Blues or the Drifters. The original group was founded in 1969 by ex-Yardbirds members Keith Relf and Jim McCarty as a sort of progressive folk-rock band, who recorded two albums (of which only the first, self-titled LP came out in America, on Elektra Records) but never quite made it, despite some success on England's campus circuit.

The band went through several membership changes, with Relf and his sister Jane (who later fronted the very Renaissance-like Illusion) exiting and McCarty all but gone after 1971. The new lineup formed around the core of bassist Jon Camp, keyboard player John Tout, and Terry Sullivan on drums, with Annie Haslam, an aspiring singer with operatic training and a three-octave range.

1969 - Renaissance
1971 - Illusion
1972 - Prologue
1973 - Ashes Are Burning
1974 - Turn Of A Cards
1975 - Scheherazade And Other Stories
1976 - Live At Carnegie Hall
1977 - Novella
1979 - Azure D'or

Electric Light Orchestra - Eldorado (1974/2022) [SACD ISO]

Electric Light Orchestra
leader Jeff Lynne did more than figuratively reach for the sky on Eldorado. Daring to be bold, and creating imaginative worlds that invite the listener to escape the mundane, the visionary composer-musician achieved a multidisciplinary fantasia and, in the process, a prog-rock landmark. Nearly 50 years later, the concept album's brilliance can be experienced like never before in cinematic fashion.

Ronnie Earl 1987-2022 [FLAC]

One of the finest blues guitarists to emerge from the 1980s, Ronnie Earl's emotionally rich, technically dazzling playing style crisscrosses the genre's history and often incorporates elements from jazz, soul, and rock. Solo and with longtime band the Broadcasters, he has released dozens of albums resulting in multiple "Guitar Player of the Year" prizes. Influenced by spiritual themes, Earl's instrumental acumen has fueled celebrated recordings including 1993's Still River and 1996's Language of the Soul. After 2000's The Colour of Love cracked the Top 200, he signed with Canada's powerhouse independent Stony Plain for 2004's I Feel Like Goin' On. 2009's Healing Time charted internationally, while 2016's Maxwell Street delivered a raucous tribute to Chicago blues. 2019's Beyond the Blue Door was a star-studded collection of blues, R&B, and rock covers. Earl followed it up with 2020's socially conscious Rise Up, and 2022's cover-heavy Mercy Me.

VA - Troubadours Of British Folk (3 CD, 1995/FLAC)

Rhino's Troubadours of British Folk series, encompassing three volumes, four decades, 49 songs, and almost as many performers, is a model genre retrospective. For those who want a representative collection of the style's highlights, it covers virtually all of the major performers and innovators of British folk, represented by their best-known (and usually best) songs. For those who want an introduction/guide to the form, it's equally useful, serving as an excellent foundation to build upon if you're motivated to seek out more albums by these performers after an initial taste. Volume One covers the mid-'50s to the early '70s, encompassing skiffle (Lonnie Donegan), elder statespersons (Ewan MacColl), virtuoso guitarists (Davy Graham, Bert Jansch, Martin Carthy), traditional singers (Jean Redpath, Shirley & Dolly Collins), singer-songwriters (Donovan), and early efforts by the major players of British folk-rock (Fairport Convention, Pentangle, The Incredible String Band, Steeleye Span). Then there are names which are virtually unknown these days in the States, like the Young Tradition, Anne Briggs, and Wizz Jones. Along with some expected classics (Fairport's "Fotheringay," Donegan's "Rock Island Line," Jansch's "Needle of Death") are some rare coveted treasures, like MacColl's "Dirty Old Town" (eventually covered by The Pogues) and Graham's "Angi" (popularized by Simon & Garfunkel). The liner notes, with quotes from many of the artists and extensive commentary, are great, as they are for each volume of the series.

Roy Orbison - Orbison 1955-1965 [7 CD, 2001/FLAC]

Between 1955 and 1965 Roy Orbison revolutionised popular music and these are the recordings that did it! This 7-CD set includes every recording from his golden decade! Beginning his career as a rockabilly singer on Jew-Wel and Sun Records , Roy scored one hit, 'Oooby Dooby', and left many great early rare and rockin' sides behind ...'Problem Child, Down The Line, Rockhouse, Cat Called Domino'... as well as songs he wrote for Buddy Holly, like 'An Empty Cup' and 'You've Got Love'. Then Roy's song 'Claudette' (both early demo's included here for the first time!) became a hit for the Everly Brothers, and Roy went to Nashville to record first for RCA, then Monument. At Monument Records, Roy made the most perfectly realised pop music of the early-to-mid Sixties. Bruce Springsteen spoke of its "mysterious sense of longing." As Roy's contemporaries fell to the British Invasion, he went from strength to strength. All of his Monument recordings are complete here for the first time. All The hits, 'Uptown, Only The Lonely, Blue Angel, I'm Hurtin', Running Scared, Crying, Candy Man, Dream Baby, In Dreams, Falling, Mean Woman Blues, Blue Bayou, Pretty Paper, It's Over, Oh Pretty Woman', and more! All the B-sides, including songs that became big hits for other artists, like 'Today's Teardrops, Love Hurts', and 'Distant Drums'. And all the album tracks from all the Monument LPs, plus previously unissued alternate takes and rare demos! This set concludes with Roy's first MGM hit, 'Ride Away' from 1965, closing out incredible 10 years...10 years that changed the way popular music was made...

Jethro Tull - Songs From The Wood (1977) [3 CD - 40th Anniversary Edition, 2017] [FLAC]

This celebration of Jethro Tull’s tenth album follows a similar pattern to previous reissues, with the first disc containing a Steven Wilson remix followed by some ‘associated recordings’ including the previously unreleased Old Aces Die Hard and Working John, Working Joe. CDs two and three offer 22 track live tracks, recorded on the Songs From The Wood Tour across two American dates, (Boston on 6 December 1977 and Maryland on 21 November 1977). These unheard tracks have been remixed to stereo by Jakko Jakszyk and are completely unheard.

Rainbow - Long Live Rock 'n' Roll (1978) [SACD ISO]

Long Live Rock 'n' Roll
may be singer Ronnie James Dio's last album with Rainbow, but at least he went out on a high note. While the material is not quite as strong as on the previous studio effort, Rising, Long Live Rock 'n' Roll maintains the momentum the band had built up. "Kill the King" had been previously heard on the live On Stage record, but here it sounds more fully realized. Also, the title track from the album stands as one of the best songs the band did, not to mention a noble sentiment. The chugging "L.A. Connection" is another highlight. As with all of their first four albums, this one was produced by Martin Birch (who produced everyone from Blue Ă–yster Cult to Wayne County), and he really knows how to get the best out of the band by this point. The result is that the songs couldn't sound any better, so even if some of the material isn't quite up to their best, the album is still very cohesive, steady, and, ultimately, satisfying. This would turn out to be the last great album Rainbow would ever make, although they did enjoy a great deal of chart success in the post-Dio era.

Bobby Bland - Turn on Your Love Light: The Duke Recordings, Vol. 2. [2 CD, 1994/FLAC]

Bobby Bland earned his enduring blues superstar status the hard way: without a guitar, harmonica, or any other instrument to fall back upon. All Bland had to offer was his magnificent voice, a tremendously powerful instrument in his early heyday, injected with charisma and melisma to spare.

The fifty selections on Turn on Your Love Light - The Duke Recordings Vol. 2 (with material from1960-1964) represents Bobby "Blue" Bland at the height of his powers. By 1960, he had been ensconced at Duke for several years, and label owner Don Robey had successfully assembled a musical crew that consistently worked wonders with the singer in the studio. Not surprisingly, this set contains the largest number of titles with which even the most casual fan of Bland will be familiar.

Paul McCartney and Wings - remastered collection 1971-2018 [24-96]

Paul McCartney and Wings
, often billed simply as Wings, were a British-American rock band formed in 1971 by former Beatle bassist Paul McCartney, his wife Linda McCartney on keyboards, session drummer Denny Seiwell, and former Moody Blues guitarist Denny Laine. Wings were noted for their commercial successes, musical eclecticism and frequent personnel changes; going through three lead guitarists and four drummers. However, the core trio of the McCartneys and Laine remained intact throughout the group's existence.

Kate Bush - Remastered Pt. IV (2018) [24-44]

This is the first (and definitive) program of remastering undertaken by the artist and includes the release of many rarities and cover versions on HighResAudio for the first time.
Kate Bush is one of the UK music scene's most individual, creative and iconic solo pop stars. In her four decades in the public eye, her hits have included Wuthering Heights, Hounds Of Love, Cloudbusting and Running Up That Hill. She has won Brit and Ivor Novello Awards, and her music was used during the 2012 London Olympics Closing Ceremony. After being given a CBE by Queen Elizabeth II for her contributions to music in 2013, she returned to the stage for the first time in more than 30 years for 2014's rapturously received (and immediately sold out) Before The Dawn shows at London's Hammersmith Apollo.

Kate Bush's influence can be seen and heard in contemporary artists such as Florence + The Machine, Tori Amos, Lady Gaga, Bat For Lashes, Marina & The Diamonds and Goldfrapp. She has collaborated with artists including Prince, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd's David Gilmour and Stephen Fry.

Lightnin' Hopkins collection 1960-2002 [FLAC]

Sam "Lightnin’" Hopkins (March 15, 1912January 30, 1982) was a country blues guitarist, from Houston, Texas, United States.

Hopkins' style was born from spending many hours playing informally without a backing band. His distinctive fingerstyle playing often included playing, in effect, bass, rhythm, lead, percussion, and vocals, all at the same time. He played both "alternating" and "monotonic" bass styles incorporating imaginative, often chromatic turnarounds and single note lead lines. Tapping or slapping the body of his guitar added rhythmic accompaniment.

Todd Rundgren - The 70'S Collection [24-96]

An eclectically accomplished musician and studio virtuoso, Todd Rundgren has been recording for more than three decades. His musical career has gone from simple pop that never brought the success some critics felt he deserved (only one gold LP, Something/Anything?) to the more complex progressive rock of Utopia, which did gain Rundgren a devoted cult following. Through it all, this multi-instrumentalist has maintained a prolific sideline career as a producer; he must also be regarded as a pioneer of rock video, interactive CD, and Web-based music.

A massively expanded version of The Allman Brothers Band’s 1971 live album At Fillmore East.

This set called The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings contains 14 previously unreleased tracks from various March 1971 shows, with the venue’s closing gig of 27 June that same year being included in its entirety (along with an introduction by venue owner Bill Graham, that is also unreleased).

VA - Night Comes Down: 60s British Mod, R&B, Freakbeat & Swinging London Nuggets (3 CD, 2017/FLAC)

NIGHT COMES DOWN continues RPM’s ongoing pedigree in creating bespoke Sixties compilations of rare British music aimed at discerning collectors.

Many tracks make their official debut on CD, including rarities by The Gnomes Of Zurich, Kevin ‘King’ Lear, Dominic Grant, The Shadrocks, The Reaction, Al Saxon, The Hammers, etc. In addition, ‘Cypress’ by The Truth is a previously unissued variant of Donovan’s ‘Hey Gyp’.

Familiar names (The Spencer Davis Group, Laurel Aitken, The Moody Blues, Arthur Brown) are joined by cult favourites (John’s Children, Mickey Finn, The Bo Street Runners) and relative unknowns (Five’s Company, The Second Thoughts).

Across the three CDs, NIGHT COMES DOWN charts the development of Beat music in its various guises, from the gutsy yet jazzy R&B which opens Disc 1 through to horn-laden Brit Soul (Norma Lee, The Brothers Grimm), fuzz-laden Freakbeat (Favourite Sons, The Tomcats, The In Crowd), Femme Pop (Twiggy, Twinkle), and groovy Loungecore (courtesy of Mark Wirtz and Les Reed’s British Lion Orchestra).

Disc 3 reflects the influence of Psychedelia, as Swinging London became multi-coloured, with assorted treats from The Alan Bown, The Mike Stuart Span and The Spectrum, with some unlikely Mod-ish discoveries by “hairy” bands such as The Deviants and Fat Mattress.
