The Traveling Wilburys - The Traveling Wilburys Collection (2 CD, 2007) [FLAC + 24/192]

The Traveling Wilburys Collection is a box set compilation album by the British-American supergroup the Traveling Wilburys. It comprises the two studio albums recorded by the band in 1988 and 1990, with additional bonus tracks, and a DVD containing their music videos and a documentary about the group. The box set was released on 11 June 2007 by Rhino, in association with Wilbury Records.

The release was overseen by George Harrison's estate, as the rights holder for the Wilburys' catalogue, and ensured that the band's recordings were available for the first time since they went out of print in the mid 1990s. Two of the bonus tracks were completed for the box set by Jeff Lynne, who co-founded the Wilburys in 1988, and Harrison's son Dhani. The Traveling Wilburys Collection was commercially successful, topping albums charts in Britain, Ireland, Australia and several other countries.

Tom Petty - Transmission Impossible [3 CD, 2015] (FLAC + 320)

His first album hit the streets in 1976 and initially its arrival caused few heads to turn. Music fans were confused; were these a bunch of punks or 1960s revivalists with a liking for Gene Clark era Byrds? Fortunately, as is so often the case, the UK seemed to 'get it' pretty soon after the record s release there and it reached #24 on the British chart. News traveled West, and a full year after the home turf release Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers entered the Billboard chart. Shortly thereafter second album You're Gonna Get It! was released, and became a hit right away. The rest, as they say, is history. But it s relatively recent history about which any number of books, films and of course superlative albums are readily available for students of this remarkable performer to delve into.

Tom Petty - An American Treasure (4 CD Deluxe, 2018) [Hi-Res FLAC]

An American Treasure, the first posthumous Tom Petty project, is designed as an aural biography of the late rocker, telling a tale that begins with a Mudcrutch session from 1974, running through the glory of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers in 1976, and concluding with a live version of “Hungry No More” from 2016, just over a year prior to his tragic 2017 passing. Arriving roughly a year after Petty’s death, the timing for An American Treasure makes sense — he certainly deserved a tribute — but in strict discographical terms, there didn’t seem a need for a second career-spanning box set, as he already had 1995’s rarity-laden box Playback and a multi-disc The Live Anthology from 2009. Happily, An American Treasure offers a story that’s not told on either previous set, and that’s a complete picture of Petty’s career, told entirely through byways, not highways. The compilers — a team consisting of his widow Dana, wife Adria, bandmates Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench, plus longtime producer Ryan Ulyate — made a conscious decision not to replicate any material from Playback, which meant that there wasn’t room for the original hit versions of any of Petty’s hits. Ultimately, this meant that many of his best-known songs are nowhere to be found on An American Treasure, but that winds up as a feature, not a bug.

Tom Petty discography [1976-2015]

Thomas Earl Petty (October 20, 1950 – October 2, 2017) was an American musician, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer best known as the lead singer of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. He was also a member and co-founder of the late 1980s supergroup the Traveling Wilburys, and his early band Mudcrutch.

Petty recorded a number of hit singles with the Heartbreakers and as a solo artist, many of which are mainstays on adult contemporary and classic rock radio. His music became popular among younger generations. In his career, Petty sold more than 80 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time. In 2002, Petty was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Petty suffered cardiac arrest early in the morning of October 2, 2017, and died that night at the UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, California.
