Greg Lake - From the Underground : The Official Bootleg Vol. 1 & 2 (2011) [FLAC]

Greg Lake
is best known as a founding member of prog rock legends King Crimson and Emerson, Lake & Palmer, but his musical career spans nearly 35 years and these discs are a delightful testament to every stop along his musical journey. Consisting entirely of extremely rare or previously unreleased material, From the Underground contains both studio and live selections from '60s to the mid-'90s : groups the Shame, Shy Limbs, and King Crimson as well as Lake's later work with Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Asia, Emerson, Lake & Powell, and his own Greg Lake Band.

King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King (Expanded & Remastered Original Album Mix) (1969/2014) [24-96]

In the Court of the Crimson King (subtitled An Observation by King Crimson) is the debut studio album by English rock band King Crimson, released on 10 October 1969 by Island Records. The album is one of the earliest and most influential of the progressive rock genre, where the band combined the musical influences that rock music was founded upon with elements of jazz, classical, and symphonic music.

In the Court of the Crimson King was reissued several times in the 1980s and 1990s through Polydor and E.G. Records, with pressings made from copies that were several generations removed from the stereo sub-master tape. This resulted in sub-par audio quality and audible tape hiss.

Bill Bruford - Making a Song and Dance: A Complete-Career Collection (6 CD, 2022/FLAC)

Over the past 50 years Bill Bruford has been one of the most original and innovative drummers across multiple genres. Making A Song and Dance: A Complete Career Collection is a 6CD Boxset that charts some of the many highlights of Bruford’s incredible career and is released on 29th April through BMG.

From early steps with progressive legends YES and a quarter of a century in King Crimson, to ground-breaking jazz fusion leading his own Bruford and Earthworks projects, Bill Bruford has always wanted to explore his chosen discipline to the full – and then push the boundaries further. This desire to challenge convention has created some breath-taking moments and made Bruford the drummer-of-choice for collaborations with leading musicians around the world.

For this anthology, Bruford has selected 70 tracks from across his whole career, comprising works from some 23 different artists and bands over a 40-year period. “I’ve deliberately avoided forcing them into industry categories such as ‘progressive rock’, ‘fusion’ or ‘jazz’,” Bruford adds, “on the grounds that most of the music I’ve been associated with fits very poorly into such straight-jackets. Round holes and square pegs come to mind.”

The 6CD boxset Making a Song and Dance includes tracks from YES, King Crimson, Bruford, Bill Bruford’s Earthworks, his work with iconic global guitarists Al Di Meola, Steve Howe and Kazumi Watanabe and collaborations with keyboardists Patrick Moraz and Michiel Borstlap and many others. The package also includes a detailed explanation in a 52-page hardback book, written by Bruford, featuring rare and unseen photos. The outer box artwork, gatefold CDs and booklet have been designed by Bruford’s long-time artist and graphic designer Dave McKean.

Greg Lake – The Anthology : A Musical Journey (2 CD, 2020/FLAC)

Greg Lake left behind a rich musical legacy when he passed away in 2016. As a member of Emerson Lake & Palmer, King Crimson, pre-Crim bands The Shy Limbs and The Shame – not to mention his talents as a solo artist, producer, and composer – he helped define the landscape of progressive rock.

A new career-spanning compilation called The Anthology: A Musical Journey will pay tribute to his contributions through the decades. The two-disc set features 33 tracks, including many of Lake’s best-known songs, beloved album cuts, and rarities. There’s the hard-to-find “Love” that Lake recorded with The Shy Limbs, ELP favorites “Take a Pebble,” “‘C’est La Vie.” and “Lucky Man.” His time with King Crimson is represented with “Peace” from In the Wake of Poseidon, “In the Court of the Crimson King.” recorded live at the Fillmore West, and “21st Century Schizoid Man” as performed solo in 1981. A clutch of ’80s solo material is also included, alongside a collaboration with Geoff Downes and a number of live recordings. Lake’s re-recording of the old ELP favorite “Closer to Believing” – one of his final recordings – is another highlight of the collection.

King Crimson - The 21st Century Guide to King Crimson, Vol. One & Two (8 CD, 2004-2005)

The aim of The 21st Century Guide To King Crimson is to replace the Frame By Frame 4-CD compilation (1991), taking advantage of technological advances, ten years of additional live and studio Crimsonising, and twelve years of archiving live material. Frame By Frame's 3 studio + 1 live albums are being replaced by this two-volume 8-CD Guide, a comprehensive overview for new ears of all that is necessary in the Crimson corpus. Old-generation completists might disagree with some choices, but material not included in the Guide is available for new-generation completists, should they wish. The Guide can only exist now that the complete King Crimson recorded work (live and studio) is, for the first time, in one place: DGM; and a place where, arguably also for the first time, it is not being driven to serve the interests of business."

King Crimson - On (and off) The Road [19 Disc, 32 CD, 2016]

King Crimson released On (and off) The Road , a new 19-disc box set that presents a complete overview of the 1980s incarnation of the band.

This collection is a mix of live and studio material. It includes stereo and 5.1 surround sound editions of the three albums issued in the eighties – Discipline (1981), Beat (1982) and The Three Of A Perfect Pair (1984). On (and off) The Road also includes the final concert from each of King Crimson’s tours of this era: Japan 1981 (new to CD), Germany 1982 (new mixes for this edition), Canada 1984 (issued as Absent Lovers in ’98 but remastered for this edition).

In addition this set includes additional studio recordings, include sessions for the abandoned third album and a ‘making of’ CD which features studio snippets and outtakes from across the studio recordings.

King Crimson - Starless (23 CD Super Deluxe Edition, 2014)

Starless is a King Crimson box set that offers an in-depth overview of the band’s celebrated mid-1970′s live line-up at its most exploratory.

When we say ‘in-depth’ that’s what we mean since this set will contain a staggering 27 discs, made of up 23 CDs, two DVD-As and two blu-ray audio discs.

19 of the CDs are of live performance material with a 20th disc offering the 2011 stereo mix of Starless And Bible Black by Steven Wilson and Robert Fripp. The other three CDs are described as ‘ bonus’ discs and contain ‘restored soundboard/bootlegs and audio curios’.

King Crimson - Sailors' Tales (21 CD, 2017)

Another one of those mega King Crimson box sets is here. Sailors’ Tales brings together the ‘complete’ 1970-72 King Crimson across 27 discs. This set includes 21 CDs, four blu-ray discs and a pair of audio-only DVDs.

3CDs feature Steven Wilson and Robert Fripp stereo mixes of In The Wake Of Poseidon, Lizard and Islands plus additional tracks.

6CDs feature the Islands line-up’s early concerts from Germany (new to CD) and the UK (1971).

9CDs feature live recordings (several new to CD and/or previously unreleased in any format) from the 1972 US tour, including a new stereo mix of Summit Studios and an expanded Earthbound.

3CDs feature auditions for the Islands band and two further, as yet, unidentified concerts from 1972 (all previously unreleased).

King Crimson‎- Heaven & Earth [18 CD, 2019]

King Crimson has released another one of their mega box sets. Heaven & Earth is the seventh in their ongoing series and focuses on the period from December 1997 to August 2008.

This box set features 18 CDs, 3 x blu-ray audio, one blu-ray video and two DVD-Audio discs. The first three CDs are devoted to enhanced version of the studio albums The ConstruKction Of Light (2000) and The Power to Believe (2003). The former has been remixed (by Don Gunn) and features all new drums by Pat Mastelotto and has a new moniker The ReconstruKction Of Light. The Power to Believe is featured as an extended/enhanced stereo mix and includes the studio version of Happy With What You Have To Be Happy With and Level 5.

The next four CDs feature the instrumental/improvised ProjeKcts, er, projects, described as “research and development” by Robert Fripp. These are all new to CD and each ‘ProjeKct’ each CD features a different line-up.

A further 11 CDs feature live recordings (several new to CD, with some material previously unreleased) from the 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2008 tours.

VA - The Many Faces Of King Crimson [3 CD, 2016/FLAC]

Alongside Yes, Emerson Lake & Palmer and Genesis, King Crimson has been one of the most emblematic British progressive rock bands of all time. Always creatively led by Robert Fripp, the group has gone through numerous member changes and sound mutations. After several years of hard work, Music Brokers is proud to present The Many Faces Of King Crimson, an album where we will find hard to find works and lesser known projects from most of the members that at some point were part of the band.

The Many Faces Of King Crimson is a monumental project, a triple album where we can listen to the solo work of drummer Andy McCulloch, lyricist Pete Sinfield, bassist Boz Burrell, drummer Ian Wallace, singer and bassist Gordon Haskell, the exotic percussionist Jamie Muir, drummers Michael Giles and Pat Mastelotto, stick player Trey Gunn, drummer Bill Rieflin (current member of Crimson), bassist John Wetton, the sax player Mel Collins, pianist Keith Tippett, bassist Tony Levin, drummer Jerry Marotta, singer and bassist Greg Lake, multi-instrumentalist Ian McDonald, guitarist Adrian Belew and obviously their supreme leader: Robert Fripp. With exquisite cover art and remastered sound, The Many Faces Of King Crimson is an exquisite album, a fundamental collection not only for fans of King Crimson, but for all the lovers of progressive rock and great music in general.
