Allan Holdsworth - The Man Who Changed Guitar Forever ! [12 CD, 2017/FLAC-HD/320]

 

The Man Who Changed Guitar Forever! The Allan Holdsworth Album Collection is a box set by the English jazz fusion guitarist Allan Holdsworth. It was released by Manifesto Records on 7 April 2017.

The 12-CD collection contains remastered versions of 11 studio albums and a live album, along with a 40-page booklet by Christopher Hoard. In one of his last interviews, Holdsworth spoke to DownBeat magazine and explained that the title of the collection was not his idea, but also added that he was very pleased with the quality of the remastered tracks by Manifesto Records.

Holdsworth was able to promote these albums briefly, as he died only a week later from high blood pressure. According to The Guardian, he played his final gig in San Diego on 10 April 2017.

U.K. - Album collection 1978-1979 (3 CD, 2014/FLAC)

 U.K. were a British progressive rock supergroup originally active from 1977 until 1980. The band was composed of singer/bassist John Wetton (formerly of King Crimson, Roxy Music, Bryan Ferry's band and Uriah Heep), keyboardist/electric violinist Eddie Jobson (formerly of Curved Air, Roxy Music and Frank Zappa's band), guitarist Allan Holdsworth (formerly of Tempest, Soft Machine, The New Tony Williams Lifetime and Gong) and drummer Bill Bruford (formerly a full member of Yes and King Crimson, and also a tour drummer for Genesis), who was later replaced by drummer Terry Bozzio (formerly of Frank Zappa's band). UK reformed with John Wetton, Eddie Jobson and Terry Bozzio for a world tour in 2012.

Tempest - Under The Blossom. The Anthology (2 CD, 2005/FLAC)

 Tempest was a British progressive rock band active from 1972 to 1974. Its core members were Jon Hiseman on drums and Mark Clarke on bass. They released two studio albums before breaking up. 

Hiseman and Clarke had played in Colosseum together and formed Tempest at the beginning of 1973. For the band's first, eponymous album (originally called Jon Hiseman's Tempest), the line-up was completed by Allan Holdsworth on guitar and Paul Williams on vocals and keyboards.

Later in Tempest's brief history, they were joined by Ollie Halsall, who had played guitar with progressive rock band Patto. With two guitarists, the group played a number of shows beginning with a June 1973 show at Golders Green Hippodrome, London, which was broadcast by the BBC and later released as a bootleg erroneously entitled Live in London 1974.[ By the time a second album was recorded, 1974's Living in Fear, Tempest was down to a trio, consisting of Hiseman, Clarke, and Halsall; reportedly Holdsworth didn't want to play alongside a second guitarist. The band broke up soon after.

In 2007, a double CD anthology was released entitled Under the Blossom which featured remastered editions of the two studio albums, two previously unreleased studio tracks from the Living in Fear era and the BBC live recording of the June 1973 concert at Golders Green with the two guitar line-up.
