Susan Tedeschi discography

Guitarist, singer, and songwriter Susan Tedeschi is part of the new generation of blues musicians looking for ways to keep the form exciting, vital, and evolving. Tedeschi's live shows are by no means straight-ahead urban blues. Instead, she freely mixes classic R&B, blues, and her own gospel and blues-flavored originals into her sets. She's a young, sassy blues belter with musical sensibilities that belie her years.

Rush - Permanent Waves (40th Anniversary Remaster 2020/FLAC)

Permanent Waves is the band’s seventh studio album, released on New Year’s Day, 1980. It was recorded at Le Studio, Morin Heights, Quebec, and mixed at Trident Studios in London. The tracks were laid down just shy of four weeks, in part attributed to the idyllic working conditions of Morin Heights.

Jerome John Garcia (August 1, 1942 – August 9, 1995) was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist, best known for being a principal songwriter, the lead guitarist and a vocalist with the rock band the Grateful Dead, of which he was a founding member and which came to prominence during the counterculture of the 1960s. Although he disavowed the role, Garcia was viewed by many as the leader or "spokesman" of the group.

Marc Bolan & T Rex - Unchained Home Recordings & Studio Outtakes 1972–1977 (8 CD, 2015)

In 1973, alone and with an acoustic guitar, Marc Bolan recorded the revealing “This Is My Life”. Over its five minutes, a strummed elegy akin to the T Rex B-side “Baby Strange” evolves from a finger-picked blues. The lyrics name-check B.B. King, Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B Goode” and mention a visit to New York State, playfully rhymed with steak.

“Everything I did when I was going to school was just an imitation of Carl Perkins singing ‘Don’t be Cruel’,” he sings, no doubt well aware the Elvis Presley hit did not figure in Perkins’ usual repertoire. Once Presley hit big, Perkins was firmly relegated to playing second fiddle. Bolan was subverting history’s hierarchy. “This Is My Life” found Bolan reflecting on who he was and who he had become.

Drive-By Truckers long awaited live album was recorded over three nights at the historic Fillmore in San Francisco CA. The bands long-time Producer, David Barbe, acquired the necessary mobile gear to record and flew out to San Francisco to capture their three-night stand in November of 2014. They hired some horns, sold some tickets and played three special and unique shows. From those shows the group have the groups life’s work into one cohesive whole.

Andy Seagrave - The Jungle [2021]

A Texas blues man’s journey to New York leads him back to his roots.

The night before Andy Seagrave moved to New York, he was 20 years old and playing blues guitar in a south Texas club. A friend asked, “You ready for the concrete jungle?” 18 years, a recession, 2 layoffs and a pandemic later, Andy’s releasing his debut album: The Jungle.

After studying advertising at The School of Visual Arts, Andy worked on Madison Ave as a copywriter. But in 2009 he was laid off. Newly married and unable to find work, Andy began writing the songs that would become the framework for 'The Jungle'. For the next few years, he struggled to find his identity. Was he an Ad man or a blues man?

Andy became disenchanted with advertising. But seeing artists like The Black Keys and Gary Clark Jr blow up reignited his passion for blues. He kept writing and performing.

In 2017, Andy received a guitar in the mail with a note that said, ‘I want you to have this, it belonged to my brother, it’s meant to be played’. The guitar belonged to a musician from Austin, Texas. It was gifted by the musician's brother. Weeks later Andy would sit in with bassist Dan Green and meet drummer Keith Robinson–also from Austin. “It seemed like my path was leading me back to Texas and back to the blues.'

Dio - Evil Or Divine: Live In New York City 2003 [2021/FLAC]

After the reawakening of Ronnie James Dio to a younger generation courtesy of his two-disc Rhino anthology Stand Up and Shout, the man remained alive and kicking for a year-and-a-half, sharing the road with fellow metal luminaries the Scorpions and Deep Purple. This collection of live recordings is the document of this tour, and it features the grand wizard of darkness in fine performing form, covering all of the well-known anthems like "Holy Diver" and "Heaven and Hell" and throwing in some choice new tunes for a balance of old and new. Dio heads will enjoy having this as a souvenir of the man's recent conquests in North America and Europe.

Gerald "Gerry" Rafferty (16 April 1947 – 4 January 2011) was a Scottish singer and songwriter best known for his solo hits "Baker Street", "Right Down the Line" and, with the band Stealers Wheel, "Stuck in the Middle with You".

Back in 1996, Rhino Records had plans for a Cars rarities disc entitled Prototypes, which was to include their entire first album in demo form, as well as other rarities from all eras of the band. And even though Ice magazine ran a story on it and a track listing was set, the album never saw the light of day for reasons unknown. Three years later, Rhino reconsidered (helped by a fan write-in campaign), and issued a similarly assembled package, The Cars: Deluxe Edition.

The Doors - Morrison Hotel (50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) [2 CD, 2020/FLAC]

The Doors fifth studio album, Morrison Hotel, has been reissued for its 50th anniversary.

The album was recorded in late 1969/early 1970 and released in February 1970. It’s newly remastered for this release by Bruce Botnick and this version is included on CD and as 180g vinyl record.

Jimi Hendrix - Songs For Groovy Children : The Fillmore East Concerts [4 CD, 2019]

Sony’s Legacy Recordings issue a new live Jimi Hendrix box set. Songs for Groovy Children: The Fillmore East Concerts assembles all four historic debut concerts by the legendary guitarist as originally performed.

This is Hendrix with his ‘Band of Gypsys’ – a trio of himself, Billy Cox on bass and Electric Flag drummer Buddy Miles. They group debuted with four concerts, over two evenings, that literally marked the end of the 1960s and ushered in the 1970s. These shows were at the Fillmore East in Manhattan – two on New Year’s Eve 1969 and two on New Year’s Day 1970, each of which were professionally recorded.

The live album Band of Gypsys album was issued only four months later, in March 1970 and was edited and sequenced from songs performed during the two Fillmore sets on 1 January 1970. But it only featured six songs. These news sets take things considerably further, as you might expect.

The audio has been newly mixed (by Eddie Kramer) and restored in sequence without edits. In total there is over two dozen tracks that have either never before been released commercially or have been newly pressed and newly remixed. All audio was mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Bernie Grundman.

Derek & the Dominos- Fillmore Double Night [4 CD, 1997]

Fillmore Double Night is a 4CD bootleg by Derek And The Dominoes. Released in 1997 by Mid Valley Recordings, it consists of soundboard recordings from two concerts at the Fillmore East in New York City on 23-24 October, 1970. A few of the songs had been released officially at the time of its release.

This four disc-set contains all of the existing Concert Band Sessions from May 1960 to December 1962, and makes available for the first time five previously unreleased performances. Some seven others, whose original tapes are either missing or lost, are notated here for the sake of discography.

Lead singer Paul Rodgers went on to become lead singer of the rock band Bad Company along with Simon Kirke on drums. Lead guitarist Paul Kossoff, a much revered blues-rock guitarist, died from a drug-induced heart failure at the age of 25 in 1976.

Captured at the Wiener Konzerthaus in Vienna, The Lost Septet features Miles Davis accompanied by Gary Bartz, Keith Jarrett, Michael Henderson, Ndugu Leon Chancler, James Mtume Foreman and Charles Don Alias.

Davis toured Europe with this septet in 1971 — during his controversial, rock-oriented fusion era — but he never recorded with them in a studio. This concert was only previously broadcast on the radio.

With her pre-bop piano style and cool but sensual singing, Diana Krall took the jazz world by storm in the late '90s. By the turn of the century she was firmly established as one of the biggest sellers in jazz. Her 1996 album, All for You, was a Nat King Cole tribute that showed the singer/pianist's roots, and she had great success in that traditional-minded mode before branching out into other styles in the 2010s.

Styx are one of those bands who inspire some division among rock fans but there’s no denying their massive contribution to classic rock’s rich history. They effortlessly blend prog, hard rock and AOR influences into a glorious melting-pot that is anything but ordinary. Saccharine-sweet one minute, rocking hard the next, they’ve been a mainstay of the rock world since the early 70s.

Live from the Forum MMXVIII is a live album from the Eagles. It records the concerts at the Forum in Inglewood, California that took place over three nights in September 2018.

It is the first release to feature new band members Deacon Frey and Vince Gill alongside Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit. Deacon, son of the former band member Glenn Frey, and Gill joined the band following the death of the elder Frey in 2016.

Thelonious Monk- The Complete London Collection [3 CD, 1999]

This attractive box houses three previously released Black Lion CDs recorded at pianist/composer Thelonious Monk's final sessions as a leader; only a few dates with the Giants of Jazz were left in the future for Monk, who would soon retire altogether. Heard in unaccompanied piano solos and in a trio with bassist Al McKibbon and drummer Art Blakey, Monk is in surprisingly exuberant form, still very much at the peak of his powers. Although most of this music was last available in a "complete" Mosaic LP box set, there are actually three additional alternate takes included in the very enjoyable and somewhat definitive set. Highlights include "Little Rootie Tootie," "Meet Me Tonight in Dreamland," "Blue Sphere," "Criss Cross," "The Man I Love" and "Evidence," but all 29 selections are well worth hearing. This is essential music for all serious Thelonious Monk collections; the solo performances in particular are quite memorable.

VA - The Complete Felsted Mainstream Collection (1958-1959) [5 CD, 2011]

Between January of 1958 and April of 1959, famed English jazz writer Stanley Dance produced nine glorious LPs of traditional jazz for the Felsted label. Among the performers were many superb jazzmen who had been forgotten for decades or had rarely recorded as leaders. This 5-CD box set puts together, for the first time ever, all of the Felsted swing albums in their complete form, half of which had never previously appeared on CD, while many others have been long unavailable and truly hard to find. The leaders on the nine albums are clarinettist Buster Bailey, trombonist Dicky Wells (two LPs), tenor saxophonists Coleman Hawkins, Buddy Tate and Budd Johnson, pianists Earl Hines and Billy Strayhorn, and drummer Cozy Cole. Also featured are: Buck Claytonlayton, Charlie Shavers (tp),Johnny Hodges (as), Vic Dickenson (tb), Willie “The Lion” Smith, Hank Jones, Dick Caryary (p), Kenny Burrell (g), Rayay Brown (b),Jo Jones (d), among many others.

NEKTAR is an old progressive rock group, having mainly worked in psyche-rock since 1969. It is an English group which was founded in the city of Hamburg and which delivered good big hard rock with a lot of synths , which gave them a psyche genre in the same way that the first PINK FLOYD, HAWKWIND and URIAH HEEP or DEEP PURPLE could be influenced by it somewhere; like also a little CAMEL or CARAVAN. Only Derek MOORE and Ron HOWDEN of the original group remain today and they took over the name of the group in 2018, touring until then with other musicians from 2000 to 2016. This is their 15th album.

June 1976 is a live album by the rock band the Grateful Dead. Packaged as a box set, it comprises five complete concerts on 15 CDs. It was recorded from June 10 to June 19, 1976 at the Boston Music Hall in Boston, the Beacon Theatre in New York City, and the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, New Jersey. It was released on March 20, 2020 in a limited edition of 12,000 copies.

The shows included in the box set were part of the Grateful Dead's first concert tour following a year-and-a-half period during which they performed live only a few times. This tour also marked the return of Mickey Hart after a five year absence from the band.

More than 5 hours of unreleased live concert recordings from the earliest days of the band!

This 5-CD set features nearly two-dozen songs never before officially released by the New Riders or the Grateful Dead, including several New Riders’ originals from a largely undocumented period in the band’s evolution.

Ultimate Collectors' Edition is a compilation box set by the band U.K., released on 4 November 2016. The CDs include: remastered versions of the band's two studio albums (U.K. and Danger Money), each with an extra disc containing songs in pre-production form; an extended, 2-CD version of the Night After Night live album featuring a complete show, and a remaster of the original version; a remixed version of Reunion – Live in Tokyo, three concerts from 1978 (In Boston, Philadelphia and Cleveland), two bonus discs with interviews with John Wetton and Eddie Jobson, and the band's final concert from 1979 (In the Netherlands).

Six years in the making, IS THAT SO? is one of John McLaughlin’s deepest and most profound musical collaborations with prolific Indian composer and vocalist Shankar Mahadevan. Joining the duo is their life-long friend and musical brother Ustad Zakir Hussain on the tabla, who has been collaborating with McLaughlin since they founded Shakti in the early ‘70s, acknowledged by most to be the first groundbreaking crossover East-West musical group.

Weather Report's The Legendary Live Tapes features four discs of sensational unreleased performances all "completely, totally, unapologetically and insanely live" recorded by the legendary jazz group from 1978 to 1981.

David Bowie - Conversation Piece contains twelve previously unreleased tracks/demos from the period as well as a brand new mix of the Space Oddity (aka David Bowie) album by long-time Bowie producer/collaborator Tony Visconti. The new mix of the album now features the title track of the boxset Conversation Piece restored to the tracklisting in its initially intended position, before it was originally dropped due to time constraints of vinyl. Of the 2019 Space Oddity album mix Visconti says It was so much fun to find hidden gems of musicianship with more time to mix the second time around, a guitar twiddle here, a trombone blast there, Marc Bolans voice in a group choir and more detail in general that we overlooked all those years ago when the label gave us a week at the most to mix this album. And in the details you will find 22 year old David Bowie, who would soon take the world by storm." The 120 page hardback book accompanying the box features exclusive memorabilia from the personal collection of Davids former manager, the late Ken Pitt, as well as from the David Bowie Archive, and includes photos by Ray Stevenson, Vernon Dewhurst, David Bebbington, Ken Pitt, Alec Byrne, Tony Visconti and Jojanneke Claasen. The sleeve notes have been written for the release by Bowie experts Mark Adams, Tris Penna and Kevin Cann along with contributions from Davids lifelong friend George Underwood, Tony Visconti, Vernon Dewhurst, Dana Gillespie and John Hutch Hutchinson. The 2019 mix of the Space Oddity album will also be released separately and individually on CD, standard digital, 96/24 digital and vinyl. The various vinyl configurations will be randomly distributed worldwide with a mixture of hand-numbered labels; numbers 1 to 1969 on silver vinyl numbers and 1970 to 2019 on gold vinyl, with the remainder being black vinyl.

Blind Golem - A Dream Of Fantasy [2021]

There’s no talking about Blind Golem’s first full-length album without mentioning Uriah Heep. The Italians initially began as a Heep tribute band and desired to write their own music in a similar Seventies Rock style, going so far as to give the artwork that Demons and Wizards aesthetic and even getting Ken Hensley himself to record keyboards and slide guitar just months before his tragic passing. A Dream Of Fantasy (MaRaCash Records) makes for an inevitably derivative listen with that established, but it is also an undeniably infectious labor of love.

New Year's In New Orleans: Roll Up '78 And Light Up '79 was sourced from the original 24 track tapes which were placed in good hands and given the white-glove experience. Executive Producer Ron Rainey called upon the band's original producer Paul Hornsby--who also played keys, piano and organ on their early records--to mix the record.

The Dave's Picks albums followed the Road Trips series. They are named after Grateful Dead tape archivist David Lemieux.
