Metallica - Metallica (Remastered Deluxe Boxset) [14 CD, 2021 / Hi-Res]

Metallica
is the fifth studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica. Released on August 12, 1991, by Elektra Records, it is commonly referred to as The Black Album because of its packaging design. Its recording took place at One on One Studios in Los Angeles over an eight-month span that frequently found Metallica at odds with their new producer Bob Rock. The album marked a change in the band's music from the thrash metal style of their previous four albums to a slower, heavier, and more refined sound.

Metallica promoted Metallica with a series of tours. They also released five singles to promote the album: "Enter Sandman", "The Unforgiven", "Nothing Else Matters", "Wherever I May Roam", and "Sad but True", all of which have been considered to be among the band's best-known songs. The song "Don't Tread on Me" was also issued to rock radio shortly after the album's release but did not receive a commercial single release.

  • James Hetfield, vocals, rhythm guitar, acoustic guitar, guitar solo on "Nothing Else Matters"
  • Kirk Hammett, lead guitar
  • Jason Newsted, bass
  • Lars Ulrich, drums, percussion

Metallica 1983-2018 [FLAC]

Metallica is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California, whose releases include fast tempos, instrumentals, and aggressive musicianship that placed them as one of the founding "big four" of thrash metal alongside Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax. They formed in 1981 when James Hetfield responded to an advertisement that drummer Lars Ulrich had posted in a local newspaper. As of 2003, the line-up features long-time lead guitarist Kirk Hammett (who joined the band in 1983) and bassist Robert Trujillo (a member since 2003) alongside Hetfield and Ulrich. Previous members of the band are lead guitarist Dave Mustaine (who went on to found the band Megadeth), and bassists Ron McGovney, Cliff Burton and Jason Newsted. The band also had a long collaboration with producer Bob Rock, who produced all of its albums from 1990 to 2003 and served as a temporary bassist between the departure of Newsted and the hiring of Trujillo.

VA - The Many Faces Of Metallica (3 CD, 2019/FLAC)

After more than 35 years, ten studio albums, and eight Grammy Awards, Metallica has more than proven it's staying power as rock's preeminent metal group. They are one of the most influential heavy metal bands of the '80s and '90s, inspiring generations of rockers with their early thrash and later hard rock sounds before settling into their roles as a popular legacy act in the 2000s. Responsible for bringing the metal genre back to earth, the bandmates looked and talked like they were from the street, shunning the usual rock star games of metal musicians during the mid-'80s pop-metal renaissance. In The Many Faces of Metallica, we will review their catalog via tribute performances by bands that have been heavily influenced by the quartet from Los Angeles, California. Included here are versions of Metallica songs from their first album in 1983 thru St. Anger from 2003. Also included are many of the bands that helped shape the sound of Metallica including Motorhead, Saxon, Venom, Blitzkrieg and Budgie. With fantastic artwork and remastered sound, The Many Faces of Metallica is an essential addition to our Many Faces collection.

Metallica - And Justice For All (8 CD Remastered 2018)

Written after the death of bassist Cliff Burton, Metallica’s infamously abrasive masterpiece gets its 30th-anniversary treatment at a time when its sociopolitical rumblings are painfully relevant.

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Justice has been remastered and re-released in a variety of formats. Three decades later, Justice arguably stands as the only Metallica album that’s as beloved as it is controversial. (The rest tend to skew one way or the other.) After the death of original bassist Cliff Burton in a 1986 bus accident, the band hired Jason Newsted as his replacement. They toured with him, recorded a covers EP with him, gave him moments in the spotlight on stage, and... absolutely buried him in the mix of Justice, his first-full length with Metallica. The result is the most abrasive-sounding album to sell over eight million copies ever. It’s as if, instead of adding canned crowd noises or fake room tone, Metallica preloaded it with tinnitus.
