VA - Good Whiskey Blues Vol. 1 - 18 [18 CD, 2002/FLAC+320]

For fans of the American blues-rock Good Whiskey Blues - just a gift.

Bluesmen such as Bleu Jackson, Freddie & The Screamers, Sy Clopps, would look absolutely win-win next to any superstar, and slide guitar of Michael Henderson is not worse than, say, the same Dave Hole. And the harmonica, and just guitarists also did not disappoint, maybe not so surprising - the performers who have reached this skill, but not spoiled by fame, as a rule, do not allow to boil the pot itself.

Perfect music for the car. Checked - "comes" wonderful. You can twist everything, nothing is throwing. And when will play amazing "Cold Blue Steel" with his body and measured, "rolling" the tempo, then forget about everything and dream to fly over the road and the song did not end …

He has influenced both widely known and local blues guitarists.

Big Joe Turner - Shout, Rattle And Roll (4 CD, 2005/FLAC)

The premier blues shouter of the postwar era, Big Joe Turner's roar could rattle the very foundation of any gin joint he sang within -- and that's without a microphone. Turner was a resilient figure in the history of blues -- he effortlessly spanned boogie-woogie, jump blues, even the first wave of rock & roll, enjoying great success in each genre.

Barclay James Harvest discography [1970-1997]

Barclay James Harvest was, for many years, one of the most hard luck outfits in progressive rock. A quartet of solid rock musicians - John Lees, guitar, vocals; Les Holroyd, bass, vocals; Stuart "Wooly" Wolstenholme, keyboards, vocals; and Mel Pritchard, drums - with a knack for writing hook-laden songs built on pretty melodies, they harmonized like the Beatles and wrote extended songs with more of a beat than the Moody Blues. They were signed to EMI at the same time as Pink Floyd, and both bands moved over to the company's progressive rock-oriented Harvest imprint at the same time, yet somehow, they never managed to connect with the public for a major hit in England, much less America.

David Bowie - Brilliant Adventure (1992 - 2001) [11 CD, 2021/FLAC]

The latest in an award-winning and critically acclaimed series of David Bowie box sets is an eleven CD box, eighteen-piece vinyl set and standard digital download box set. The collection is named after the Koto led instrumental penultimate track from the ‘hours...’ album. The box sets include newly remastered versions, with input from the original producers and collaborators, of some of Bowie’s most underrated and experimental material: BLACK TIE WHITE NOISE, THE BUDDHA OF SUBURBIA (available on vinyl for the first time in nearly 30 years), 1.OUTSIDE, EARTHLING and ‘hours…’ along with the expanded live album BBC RADIO THEATRE, LONDON, JUNE 27, 2000, the non-album / alternative version / B-sides and soundtrack music compilation RE:CALL 5 and the legendary previously unreleased TOY.

TOY was recorded following David's triumphant Glastonbury 2000 performance. Bowie entered the studio with his band, Mark Plati, Sterling Campbell, Gail Ann Dorsey, Earl Slick, Mike Garson, Holly Palmer and Emm Gryner, to record new interpretations of songs he’d first recorded from 1964-1971. David planned to record the album ‘old school’ with the band playing live, choose the best takes and then release it as soon as humanly possible in a remarkably prescient manner. Unfortunately, in 2001 the concept of the ‘surprise drop’ album release and the technology to support it were still quite a few years off, making it impossible to release TOY, as the album was now named, out to fans as instantly as David wanted. In the interim, David did what he did best; he moved on to something new, which began with a handful of new songs from the same sessions and ultimately became the album HEATHEN, released in 2002 and now acknowledged as one of his finest moments.

Bob Dylan & the Hawks - Eat the Document (1966 video)

Eat the Document is a documentary of Bob Dylan's 1966 tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland with the Hawks. The cover photo was taken on the train line between Belfast and Dublin, near Balbriggan. It was shot under Dylan's direction by D. A. Pennebaker, whose groundbreaking documentary Dont Look Back chronicled Dylan's 1965 British tour. The film was originally commissioned for the ABC television series ABC Stage 67.

Though shooting had completed for the film, Dylan's July 1966 motorcycle accident delayed the editing process. Once well enough to work again, Dylan edited the film himself. ABC rejected the film as incomprehensible for a mainstream audience.

It has never been released on home video and prints are rarely screened in theaters. Some footage from Eat the Document was used in Martin Scorsese's 2005 documentary on Bob Dylan, No Direction Home, and 3 song excerpts are special features on the DVD.

VA - God Save This Box (Punk) [10 CD, 2005/FLAC]

Punk was more than a style in music. It was a style in society. It was basically antisocial, evoking opponents if not enemies, or simply conjuring them from thin air - well, thin air is a way of speaking - from the thickness of a social climate that was saturated with consumption, and that was only the beginning, and that was also corrupted and rotten from the inside by a disease that was incurable, consumption again. That was a turning point in western history.

Eric Clapton - Give Me Strength The 74- 75 Recordings [5 CD, 2013/FLAC]

Give Me Strength: The ’74/’75 Recordings is a 5CD box set that celebrates the period between April 1974 and June 1975 when Clapton produced the studio albums 461 Ocean Boulevard and There’s One In Every Crowd, as well as the live double set E.C. Was Here.

All three of those albums are included in this new box in remastered, expanded form, and all include previously unreleased session outtakes or unheard live performances.

461 Ocean Boulevard includes four previously released outtakes (including a couple of versions of Getting Acquainted), whilst amongst the bonus offerings on There’s One In Every Crowd are two unreleased session tracks Burial and Fools Like Me, and both sides of the Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door single.

E.C. Was Here is not only remastered, but REMIXED, and expanded across two CDs, with numerous unissued extras such as versions of Layla, Crossroads and Little Wing.

The fifth CD is taken up with Clapton’s sessions with blues guitarist and singer Freddie King. Originally recorded for King’s Burglar album, four tracks are featured here, including a previously unreleased 22-minute version of Gambling Woman Blues.

Van Morrison - It's Too Late To Stop Now, Volumes II, III & IV (2016/FLAC)

A 3 album collection of previously unreleased live concert recordings from Morrison’s mythic 1973 tour with the Caledonia Soul Orchestra, ..It's Too Late to Stop Now…Volumes II, III & IV collates peak performances originally recorded at three venues: The Troubadour in Los Angeles, the Santa Monica Civic Center, and The Rainbow Theatre in London.

Often cited as one of the best live albums ever made, Van Morrison’s original ..It's Too Late to Stop Now…Volumes II, III & IV has been remastered in 24-bit high resolution sound.

Morrison’s highly acclaimed 1973 concert album was compiled from eight sets of live performances–recorded at The Troubadour, the Santa Monica Civic Center and The Rainbow Theatre–and was notably free of any post-performance overdubs or studios “fixes”. ..It's Too Late to Stop Now…Volumes II, III & IV returns to those original performances, first captured on two-inch 16-track analog tapes, and, through the mastery of noted engineer Guy Massey, puts the contemporary listener in the enviable position of being sonically present at each venue. All of the recordings on the new collection have been previously unavailable and none of them overlap with the performances on “Volume I” of ..It's Too Late to Stop Now….

Volume II: Live At The Troubadour, Los Angeles, CA, May 1973
Volume III: Live At The Santa Monica Civic, Santa Monica, CA, May 1973
Volume IV: Live At The Rainbow, London, UK, July 1973

Santana - At Budokan: Live In Tokyo 1991 (DVDRIP video)

By 1991 the band Santana had evolved from latin organ and percussion grooves through trippy jazz-fusion and arrived at a form of high energy latin soul/rock. It’s a journey few watching them at Woodstock in 1969 would have predicted. Twenty-two years and countless albums later Carlos Santana himself was the only original member present in Tokyo. A close friend of Miles Davis and devotee of John Coltrane, he had regularly incorporated elements of jazz into his music, so it is no surprise to see Japan’s greatest living saxophonist, Sadao Watanabe, added here. For his part Watanabe is happy to play latin, funk and fusion, his solos easily matching Santana’s overdriven guitar for invention and energy. The tunes are taken from the Santana albums Freedom (1987) and Spirits Dancing In The Flesh (1990) as well as classics from their LPs Abraxas (1970) and Amigos (1976).

Performed at the Nippon Budokan, Tokyo, Japan 21st May 1991 and broadcast on NHK radio.

Grateful Dead - Digital Download Series (FLAC)

In the summer of 2005 the Dead began offering download versions of both their existing live releases, and a new Internet-only series, The Grateful Dead Download Series. Not surprisingly, these Internet-only albums have met with the same success as their CD-based brethren.

VA - Legend of a Mind: The Underground Anthology (3 CD, 2003/FLAC)

You sort of have to pity Decca Records after listening to this three-CD set -- the company, once the biggest label in England, started the 1950s with a technical leg up on all of its competition, jumped into skiffle and rock fast and early (and accidentally in the former case) with Lonnie Donegan, and was still going strong at the dawn of the '60s with the likes of Billy Fury on its roster. And then something went wrong, and even with the Rolling Stones, the Small Faces, and the Moody Blues recording for them, Decca began coming up a day late and a dollar short on a regular basis, beginning a slow fade in the mid-'60s that led to its eclipse in the 1970s. After hearing Legend of a Mind, you'll probably wonder why -- the three-CD set is devoted to Decca's "underground" side, which offered some prime psychedelic and progressive rock, along with some arena-style blues-rock.

Cream - Royal Albert Hall London May 2-3-5-6, 2005 (DVDRIP video)

  •     Ginger Baker – drums, cowbells, vocals

VA - The Casablanca Records Story (4 CD, 1994/FLAC)

Casablanca Records, Inc. was formed in 1973 by former Buddah Records executives Neil Bogart (who named the label as an homage to the classic film Casablanca), Cecil Holmes, Larry Harris and Buck Reingold.

Casablanca's first major signing was Kiss. Casablanca became most successful as a disco label, signing artists like Donna Summer, Giorgio Moroder, the Village People, Brooklyn Dreams, Patti Brooks and Lipps, Inc. (with lead vocalist Cynthia Johnson) as well as Four Tops, Cher, Irene Cara, Captain And Tennille, Dr. Hook, Mac Davis and George Clinton's great P-Funk band Parliament.

America - Warner Bros Years 1971-1977 (8 CD, 2015/FLAC)

A practical, no-frills clamshell box set celebrating the soft rock/folk-pop hitmakers' '70s heyday, the Warner Bros. Years 1971-1977 rounds up seven complete studio albums and one live LP. Comprised of America (1971), Homecoming (1972), Hat Trick (1973), Holiday (1974), Hearts (1975), Hideaway (1976), Harbor (1977), and America Live (1977), all of which were remastered in 2014, the collection is aimed squarely at completists. Like their closest sonic contemporaries Seals & Crofts, the trio of Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell, and Dan Peek was an unstoppable FM/AM radio force for the era, securing future classic soft rock staples like "Horse with No Name," "Ventura Highway,' "Muskrat Love," "Tin Man," "Lonely People," and "Sister Golden Hair," many of which were impeccably produced by George Martin. Really the only thing missing here is the group's 1982 comeback hit "You Can Do Magic," which would make Rhino's excellent 2000 Highway: 30 Years of America the better choice for casual fans, but longtime America devotees will appreciate having the new studio masters all in one place, as well as the neatly arranged original album art and inserts.

Spirit - Rockpalast 78 - West Coast Legends Vol.3 [DVDRIP video, 2009 ]

Filmed on March 5th 1978 in Essen at the Grugahalle.

The appearance of the legendary rock group, Spirit, with guitarist Randy California and drummer Ed Cassidy at the Rockpalast-Festival on March 4th and 5th will be a notable event: is it the group's first concert in Europe after several years. For over ten years, the American group Spirit has been commonly recognized, on the whole, as one of the most influential and important rock groups. Their album 'Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus' is a rock classic. Formed in 1967, Spirit today represents the development of the music of the American west coast in all it's aspects.

A special highlight came towards the end of the show when Dickey Betts, who had appeared on stage with his band Great Southern before Spirit joined to band.

  • Randy California - g/voc/Moog Taurus
