The Rolling Stones - Rock and Roll Circus 1968 (DVDRIP + FLAC-HD [2019]

The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus is a film released in 1996 of a December 11, 1968 event put together by The Rolling Stones. The event comprised two concerts on a circus stage, and included acts such as Eric Clapton, The Who, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, and Jethro Tull. John Lennon and his fiancee Yoko Ono performed as part of a supergroup called The Dirty Mac, along with Eric Clapton, Mitch Mitchell, and Keith Richards. It was originally meant to be aired on the BBC, but the Rolling Stones withheld its airing and release.

This concert is the only footage of Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi performing as a member of Jethro Tull; he was a member for only several weeks.

Originally filmed in December 1968, "The Rock and Roll Circus" was originally intended to be released as a television special. The special was filmed over two nights and featured not only the Rolling Stones but The Who, Jethro Tull (with future Black Sabbath guitarist Tommy Iommi filling in for the recently departed Mick Abrahams), Marianne Faithful and an all-star jam featuring John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and Mitch Micthell. Sadly, this also marked the final appearance of the Stones founder and original guiding light, Brian Jones, who would be dead within six months after filming the special.

The Who - The Who Sell Out [Super Deluxe Edition] (5 CD, 2021/FLAC)

The Who
‘s 1967 album The Who Sell Out came as a seven-disc super deluxe edition box set.

The album was originally planned by Pete Townshend and the band’s managers (Kit Lambert and Chris Stamp) as a loose concept album with jingles and commercials linking the songs. This approach was partly because the record label were demanding a new record and Townshend felt as if he didn’t have enough songs!

In the end, rather than actually going as far as to sell advertising space on the album, the band opted to write their own jingles, with a nod to pirate radio stations and an increasingly consumerist society. The iconic sleeve plays an important part of the overriding concept and was created by David King who was the art director at the Sunday Times, and Roger Law (yes, the guy who invented UK TV’s Spitting Image show, in the 1980s).

Only The Who’s third album, The Who Sell Out is regarded highly and features the transatlantic top ten hit ‘I Can See For Miles’.

The Who - My Generation (5 CD Super Deluxe Edition, 2016/FLAC)

In the half century since its release The Who’s debut album My Generation has lost none of it’s raw visceral power and still stands as the ultimate musical declaration of teenage rebellion. The title track alone has been covered innumerable times by the likes of Oasis, Green Day, Alice Cooper and Iron Maiden amongst many more.

During a break in touring in 2015 Pete Townshend discovered tapes in his audio archive featuring previously unheard demos for the album which also included three totally unreleased songs that the other members of The Who hadn’t ever even heard, ‘The Girls I Could Have Had’, ‘As Children We Grew’ and ‘My Own Love’.

The spectacular 79-track five disc Super Deluxe Edition of My Generation features these unheard songs as well as unreleased demos, unreleased alternate mixes, new remasters and a stereo remix which was created using new overdubs from Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend. For this mix Pete used exactly the same guitars and amps as the original album and Roger used the same type of microphone.

  • Roger Daltrey - lead vocals, harmonica
  • Pete Townshend - six and twelve-string acoustic and electric guitars, backing vocals, lead vocals on "A Legal Matter"
  • John Entwistle - bass guitar, backing vocals
  • Keith Moon - drums, percussion, backing vocals on "Instant Party Mixture"

Additional musicians

  • Perry Ford - piano on "I Can't Explain"
  • Nicky Hopkins - piano (except on "I Can't Explain")
  • The Ivy League - backing vocals on "I Can't Explain" and "Bald Headed Woman"
  • Jimmy Page - lead guitar on "Bald Headed Woman", rhythm guitar on "I Can't Explain"

VA - The Many Faces of the Who (3 CD, 2016/FLAC)

For many, The Who has been the best British rock band that appeared in the '60s. With it's high-impact stage presence, Pete Townshend's intellect and above all, an exquisite repertoire, The Who can appear side to side with of the greatest: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. In The Many Faces Of The Who we explore the fascinating parallel world of the group: John Entwistle's solo projects, Roger Daltrey's collaborations, their influences, the originals songs that the band made covers of (such as the remarkable 'Young Man Blues' from Mose Allison) and also we celebrate their fantastic repertoire reworked by stars such as Ocean Colour Scene, Cast or the multi-talented Petra Haden, who performs only with his voice the full The Who Sell Out album. With a luxurious cover art, liner notes and a fantastic remastered sound, The Many Faces Of The Who is the album that any fan of British rock can't miss.
