Warren Haynes' Christmas Jam returned for it's 30th annual installment in December 2018. Now, for the first time, it's being released on 4 different vinyl sets, 2CD+DVD and 3CD+2blu-ray. It features performances by Gov't Mule who presented a "Dark Side Of The Mule" tribute to Pink Floyd as well as Grace Potter, Jamey Johnson, Marco Benevento, and Mike Gordon. Gov't Mule, Eric Church, Jim James, and Joe Bonamassa round out the lineup alongside many more special guests.

Warren Haynes 1993-2015 [FLAC]

Warren Haynes (born April 6, 1960) is an American musician, singer and songwriter. He is best known for his work as longtime guitarist with the Allman Brothers Band and as founding member of the jam band Gov't Mule. Early in his career he was a guitarist for David Allan Coe and The Dickey Betts Band Haynes also is known for his associations with the surviving members of the Grateful Dead, including touring with Phil Lesh and Friends and the Dead. In addition, Haynes founded and manages Evil Teen Records.

Warren Haynes - Ashes & Dust (Deluxe edition, 2015) [24-96

Thirty-five years in to his career, Warren Haynes returns home to the Appalachian mountains for "Ashes & Dust," a collaboration between the veteran jam-band guitarist and vocalist and the adventurous acoustic band Railroad Earth. A native of Asheville, North Carolina, Haynes grew up in a center of bluegrass and mountain music. Yet he gained his reputation with his hard-charging, blues-rock band Gov't Mule; in a lengthy stint with the Allman Brothers Band; and occasional appearances with the Grateful Dead. Known for his beefy, adventurous solos, Haynes takes an earthier approach on "Ashes & Dust."

The collection includes a moody version "Coal Tattoo," the Billy Edd Wheeler classic on hard-working miners. Grace Potter duets with Haynes on a cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Gold Dust Woman," which is both ethereal and muscular. Haynes brings in former Allman Brothers cohorts Oteil Burbridge on bass and Marc Quinones on percussion for "Spots of Time," the album's most expansive, jam-scene tune. It's not a surprise since Haynes co-wrote it with Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead. Haynes has long been known for fitting into a variety of ensembles. "Ashes & Dust" expands that reputation, revealing just how wide-ranging his talents are.

Wish You Were Here : Another One for Woody - benefit show 2010-11-22 NY [FLAC]

Warren Haynes and members of the extended Gov’t Mule family celebrated the life and musical legacy of bassist Allen Woody. The Another One for Woody benefit show took place at New York’s Roseland Ballroom—the same venue that hosted the original One for Woody benefit a decade ago—and raised money for music education in public schools.

Warren Haynes - Man in Motion (2011/FLAC) + bonus DVD5 / DVDRIP video

Warren Haynes has been almost ubiquitous since he joined the Allman Brothers Band, and formed Gov't Mule with Allen Woody and Matt Abts. He's played and collaborated with everyone from the Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan to Little Milton and Taj Mahal. Fans might be surprised to learn that Southern soul was an early love. But they shouldn't be. Man in Motion is Haynes' first conscious effort and to fully indulge his love for this music, and his first solo record with backing musicians since 1993.

Gov’t Mule released Live At The Cotton Club Atlanta February 20, 1997 via Evil Teen Records. The live album is the third in the renowned rockers’ digital-only live archival series.

The remixed and remastered Live At The Cotton Club Atlanta February 20, 1997 features Mule’s original lineup of guitarist Warren Haynes, late bassist Allen Woody and drummer Matt Abts. The recording also showcases Mule in their power trio days, following in the footsteps of legendary rock power trios like Cream and The Jim Hendrix Experience.

Warren Haynes' Pre-Christmas Jam
The Orange Peel
Asheville, North Carolina, USA
Dec 9, 2011

The Warren Haynes' Christmas Jam, an annual benefit for Habitat For Humanity, celebrates it's 23rd year in Asheville, NC in 2011. This is an incredible annual event where an amazing list of musicians donate their time to participate - all proceeds go straight to the cause. Warren always manages to bring a great group of musicians together for an even greater cause.

Warren stages a shorter pre-jam before the real jam the next night at the Civic Center. Now short is a relative term meaning different things to different individuals. Here's Warren's definition - 30+ songs clocking in at just under 5 hours.

Here's a list of some of the artists on this one. They float in and out. Lots of musical styles represented. Very diverse....and a helluva lot of fun.

Warren Haynes Presents - The Benefit Concert Vol 1 - 4 [4 x 2 CD/FLAC]

Starting in 1989, Warren Haynes put together an annual charity benefit show, inviting musicians originally from his home town of Asheville who were home for Christmas, the only time of year they would all be in town at the same time. The first show, held at the 45 Cherry club in Asheville on December 29, 1989, was dubbed "The Christmas Jam: Musician's X-Mas Reunion." Some of the artists at the first Christmas Jam were Warren Haynes, Mike Barnes, Crystal Zoo, The Stripp Band and the McBad Brothers Band.

In the initial years the proceeds from the concert were donated to various charities but eventually the organizers decided to focus on Habitat for Humanity, a charity that builds houses for the disadvantaged. In tribute to his financial support of Habitat for Humanity, a subdivision in Lower Hominy, North Carolina, a suburb of Asheville, North Carolina has a street named after Warren Haynes. In 2002, Haynes was presented the Key to the City of Asheville by Mayor Charles Worley. In 2003, Mayor Worley proclaimed December 18 "Warren Haynes Day."

The event has continued to grow every year and is now dubbed "Warren Haynes Presents: The Christmas Jam." Due to increasing audience demand the show was eventually moved to the Asheville Civic Center, and was now featuring many well known artists and friends Haynes played with over the years.

Some past performers include The Allman Brothers Band, Blues Traveler, Jackson Browne, Johnny Winter, Drive-By Truckers, DJ Logic, Peter Frampton, Gov't Mule, John Hiatt, Bruce Hornsby, Hot Tuna, John Paul Jones (musician), Ray LaMontagne, Phil Lesh & Friends, Umphrey's McGee, Little Feat, Living Colour, Branford Marsalis, Dave Matthews, Neville Brothers, New Orleans Social Club, North Mississippi Allstars, Phish's Trey Anastasio and Mike Gordon, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, John Scofield, Dr.Ralph Stanley, Marty Stuart, Taj Mahal Trio, Susan Tedeschi, The Derek Trucks Band,Bob Weir, Widespread Panic's John Bell, Dave Schools, John (Jo Jo) Herman, Todd Nance & Jimmy Herring, Kevn Kinney from Drivin' N Cryin', and Edwin McCain.

In 2008, for its twentieth anniversary, "The Christmas Jam" consisted of two nights of music; including "The Christmas Jam By Day,"  a series of events including daytime concerts, movie screenings, and art, photo, and poster exhibits taking place in downtown Asheville on the days leading up to the show. The event reverted to one night in 2009 but retained the "The Christmas Jam By Day," and included the new "Christmas Comedy Jam."  The same format was repeated in 2010.

Warren Haynes Band - Live at the Moody Theater [2+1 CD, 2012/FLAC]

Singer and guitarist Warren Haynes has served in some of the most devoted, generation-spanning live acts of all time The Allman Brothers Band, The Dead and Gov’t Mule. As a solo artist, Haynes has done pretty well for himself, too. After the release of only his second solo studio album, Man in Motion, Haynes performed an epic live set in Austin, Texas full of old hits, new tracks, covers and special guest appearances.

The blazing 2.5-hour show features several cuts from Haynes’ GRAMMY-nominated solo release ‘Man In Motion’ as well as Hendrix’s “Spanish Castle Magic,” Steely Dan’s “Pretzel Logic,” Sam Cooke’s classic “A Change Is Gonna Come” & Warren’s live staple “Soul Shine” and more. Guests include the Groove Line horns and 2012 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Ian McLagan of The Faces.

The Warren Haynes Band features a hand-picked band including R&B kingpins Ron Johnson on bass, Terence Higgins on drums, Nigel Hall on keyboards, Ron Holloway on saxophone and Alecia Chakour on vocals.

Gregg Allman & Friends - All My Friends: Celebrating the Songs & Voice of Gregg Allman [2 CD, 2014/FLAC]

A founding member of the Allman Brothers Band and successful solo artist in his own right, Allman possesses a voice that has resonated through four decades.

The CDs and DVD features momentous performances by Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, Devon Allman, Robert Randolph, Jimmy Hall, Sam Moore, Keb’ Mo’, Brantley Gilbert, Jess Franklin, Dr. John, Pat Monahan, John Hiatt, Jaimoe, Taj Mahal, Gregg Allman, Widespread Panic, Trace Adkins, Vince Gill, Martina McBride, Eric Church, Jackson Browne, Zac Brown, and The Allman Brothers Band with musical direction by Don Was.

Shot in high definition with 5:1 Dolby sound at the historic Fox Theatre in Atlanta, this remarkable piece pays tribute to a voice that once heard is never forgotten.

Gov't Mule / Warren Haynes - Island Exodus, Jamaica [2010-2020]

Every January from 2010 Gov't Mule is heading to Jamaica. Every event features three full-length Gov’t Mule shows and a Warren Haynes solo show with some special guests. Here are GM/Warren shows from past years, hope we'll see the next one next year.

Gov't Mule - Live at the Cotton Club, Atlanta, GA, February 20, 1997 (2021)

Gov’t Mule has released a new live album, Live At The Cotton Club / Atlanta / February 20, 1997, the third release in their streaming-only series via Evil Teen Records. The brand-new live release features Gov’t Mule’s original line-up and was recorded in Georgia where the band was formed by front man Warren Haynes and bassist Allen Woody, as a side project of The Allman Brothers Band when they were off tour, and drummer Matt Abts. The fun side project filled the void of experimental rock power acts and have since gone on to showcase their virtuosity, intelligence, and breadth over the course of their decades-long career as one of the most timeless and active bands in the world. Live At The Cotton Club features a mix of songs from Gov’t Mule’s 1997 self-titled debut album and 1998 sophomore album, Dose, as well as covers of songs originally by Sonny Boy Williamson, Memphis Slim, Tom Waits, and more.

Las Vegas, NV,

The Black Crowes on the final night of their 1996 Fall tour promoting ‘Three Snakes & One Charm.’ Their opening act on that tour was Gov’t Mule.  One can sense the boys wanted to go out with a bang and their set here is heavy on some prime covers. Among them a rollicking ‘Jailhouse Rock’, a fine cover of ‘Feelin’ Alright’, The Allman Brothers’ ‘Dreams’ (featuring some searing slide work from Warren Haynes), Ry Cooder’s ‘Boomer’s Story’ (featuring Allen Woody on mandolin) and a triple Stones encore to finish off the show in a blaze of glory.

Warren Haynes / Warren Haynes Band discography

Warren Haynes is a generation-spanning guitar hero. He wasn't out of grade school when some of his best-known collaborators were at the peak of their fame, but he's earned a powerful reputation for his fiery guitar work steeped in blues and Southern rock traditions, and he's distinguished himself as a songwriter, bandleader, and solo artist as well as a gifted sideman. Haynes was born in Asheville, North Carolina on April 9, 1960 and developed a taste for soul and R&B at an early age after listening to his older brothers' Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, and Smokey Robinson LPs. Haynes would spend hours singing along with their records. When he was 12, he got his first guitar, and by 14 he was playing parties and sitting in with the house band at a local pizza parlor. He became a serious Eric Clapton fan, and studying his work led him deeper into the classic blues sounds that had influenced the British guitar hero.
