Led Zeppelin - For Badgeholders Only (LA Forum, 21st – 27th June 1977) [18 CD]

Empress Valley’s massive box set For Badge Holders Only caught collectors by surprise. Nowhere was it ever mentioned this was in production. This is an eighteen disc plus one DVD box set. It has two designs on the front cover and each is limited to only one hundred fifty copies. This is the third time a box set with Led Zeppelin’s eleventh tour Los Angeles shows has been released. The first was A Week For Badge Holders (Tarantura T19CD-BOX (T19CD-1~19)). At the time this was a startling achievement and is an extremely rare piece. However Tarantura used the first hour of the June 14th New York show for the June 22nd tape for some reason. After this Power & Glory (The Diagrams Of Led Zeppelin TDOLZ Vol. 50-55). This was a solid set but for the June 22nd show they edited in ”Ten Years Gone” from an alternate source for the June 21st show. Also they used some high generation tapes which is noticeable especially on the June 25th concert.

In the intervening decade since the release of the Diagrams set there have been a multitude of releases of the four Millard taped concerts. In the past two years both Wendy and Scorpio issued these shows and both released the Eddie show twice. This set finds partial redemption in issuing the first complete version of the June 22nd show on silver for the first time. Empress Valley are also trying hard to associate this with their excellent Deep Throat boxset, which covers the three Los Angeles shows from 1975 and now commands high prices. What follows are brief comments regarding each of the shows in this set.

Led Zeppelin 1977 US Tour ( California Leg) [FLAC]

Led Zeppelin's 1977 North American Tour was the eleventh and final concert tour of North America by the English rock band. The tour was divided into three legs, with performances commencing on 1 April and concluding on 24 July 1977. The tour was originally intended to finish on 13 August, but was cut short following the death of Robert Plant's son.

Alternate set of unmarked tapes for this show transferred with Dolby B on as per Mike's notes on the tape labels using an adjustable outboard Dolby B unit. This is the 1st time (May 2010) these tapes have ever been digitized. The sound is completely unaltered except for pitch correction during playback and fades added for each of the tape flips.

Led Zeppelin - The Complete Studio Recordings (10 CD, 1993/FLAC)

The Complete Studio Recordings is a ten compact disc box set by the English rock group Led Zeppelin, released by Atlantic Records on 24 September 1993. It contains all nine of the original Led Zeppelin studio albums digitally remastered, plus an expanded version of the posthumous release Coda. The discs are physically paired together in double-disc booklets and arranged in chronological order, with the exception of Presence (placed between Houses of the Holy and Physical Graffiti) being paired with Houses of the Holy in order to keep the two discs of Physical Graffiti together in the same case.

Four bonus tracks were added to the Coda disc. These were the previously unreleased "Baby Come On Home" which had appeared on Led Zeppelin Boxed Set 2 (1993), along with the previously unreleased tracks that had surfaced on the 1990 box set: "Travelling Riverside Blues" and "White Summer/Black Mountain Side", as well as the "Immigrant Song" B-side "Hey, Hey, What Can I Do". This expanded version of Coda created for the box set was also later released to digital stores in 2007 with the digital release of the full Led Zeppelin catalog, but with "Travelling Riverside Blues" omitted due to it already being included in BBC Sessions (1997).

Led Zeppelin - Cabala [8 CD, 1995]

Cabala is an eight compact disc and single VHS box set featuring soundboard and audience bootleg recordings of the English rock group Led Zeppelin, released by Italian label Osoz in 1995.

This is a box set that has recordings from before the formation of Led Zeppelin right through until the Knebworth Silver Clef performance in 1990. It comprises a selection of previously expensive releases into a single set. The soundboard quality is excellent and creates a retrospective of Led Zeppelin's unofficial and unreleased body of work. The packaging includes 8 compact discs in separate picture sleeves, a VHS video in PAL format, and a 120 page booklet detailing all bootlegs to date including a 'Top 50 Rarest Led Zeppelin and Related Records' list. The original 1995 release suffered from printing problems with the artwork, which included incorrect concert dates, venues, and track lengths. A corrected version of the art is available at ZeppelinArt.com. There is still considerable debate over whether Jimmy Page actually performed on the Lucifer Rising takes.

Led Zeppelin - Ascension In The Wane [ 10 CD, 2012]

Led Zeppelin’s ascension to super stardom was so fast that, even early in their career, they were challenged by the British press to match exceed their current champions. The most well known was in 1977 and 1978 when they were pitted against the punk movement in the UK. Believe it or not, there was a time when progressive bands like Yes were the new guard, and the press wondered if Zeppelin could match them in creativity and popularity.

This was the atmosphere in which Zeppelin planned their largest UK tour to date. Ascension In The Wane is a box set containing soundboard recordings from the second half of their UK tour. The first half, during December 1972, ended with two shows in London. In January 1973 they continued with shows in northern England and Scotland.

Many Zeppelin fans and collectors believe early 1973 (especially the European dates in March) are among the band’s greatest all-time performances. All of the tapes have been released before. Most surfaced in the early nineties and they all sound as good as the best versions in current circulation. This is a good way for those who do not own any of these shows to obtain them.

The Texas International Pop Festival 1969 [13 CD]

The Texas International Pop Festival was a music festival held at Lewisville, Texas, on Labor Day weekend, August 30-September 1, 1969. It occurred two weeks after Woodstock. The site for the event was the newly-opened Dallas International Motor Speedway, located on the east side of Interstate Highway 35E, across from the Round Grove Road intersection.

The festival was the brainchild of Angus G. Wynne III, son of Angus G. Wynne, the founder of the Six Flags Over Texas Amusement Park. Wynne was a concert promoter who had attended the Atlanta International Pop Festival on the July Fourth weekend. He decided to put a festival on near Dallas, and joined with the Atlanta festival's main organizer, Alex Cooley, forming the company Interpop Superfest.

Artists performing at the festival were: Led Zeppelin, B.B. King, Canned Heat, Chicago (then called Chicago Transit Authority), Delaney and Bonnie and Friends, Freddie King, Grand Funk Railroad, Herbie Mann, Incredible String Band, James Cotton, Janis Joplin, Johnny Winter, Nazz, Rotary Connection, Sam and Dave, Santana, Shiva's Headband, Sly and the Family Stone, Space Opera, Spirit, Sweetwater, Ten Years After and Tony Joe White.

VA - The Many Faces Of Led Zeppelin [3 CD, 2007] [FLAC]

A triple album that presents the three faces of the immortal band, Led Zeppelin. The first disc of The Many Faces presents Dread Zeppelin, a popular group of the 80's that covers Led Zeppelin's repertoire in its reggae pop style with sensational results. The second disc is dedicated to Great White, one of the fundamental bands of hair metal (the California movement that produced other groups such as Guns N' Roses, Poison and Motley Crue, among others), that pays homage with such respect to the English quartet that it can only be called adulation. The third disc presents a completely contemporary vision of the world of Led Zeppelin therefore it is dedicated entirely to remixes that are the work of artists as transcendent as Sigue Sigue Sputnick or the intense KMFDM.
