THE GRASS IS DEAD originally formed in South Florida in 1998. The Grass is Dead are one of the original pioneers of the Bluegrass/Grateful Dead genre. Billy Gilmore, founding member of the band has cultivated a dedicated fan base for many years throughout his home state. The past few years have seen them ramp up their touring schedule extensively. In the summer of 2015. They decide to follow the Grateful Dead 50 year anniversary"Fare thee Well" tour and play various after parties & pre parties around the country. The festival season of 2016 saw the band playing the Baygrass Festival, Leftover Salmon's Blue Ridge Jam, Hickory Festival, Comstock Festival, Roots Revival, Suwannee Hulaween and the bands own festival in the Everglades "Swamp Side of the Moon". Billy Gilmore is well recognized by fellow musicians as a musical virtuoso and accomplished multi-instrumentalist. Over the years, Billy has shared the stage with Sam Bush, Vassar Clements, Pete Rowan, David Gans, Sue Cunningham and Jeff Wisor.
