Bruce Springsteen released the live recording Boston 12/13/1992 from the Boston Garden. The Boss previewed the 28-song archival release with “Living Proof.”
The December 13, 1992 Boston Garden show came in the midst of the Bruce Springsteen 1992–1993 World Tour, which saw The Boss hitting the road for the first time without the E Street Band (save for keyboardist Roy Bittan). Bruce had dissolved the band in 1989 and recorded the 1992 companion albums Human Touch and Lucky Town, of which the tour was in support, without his famed backing group.
The first of two concerts at the Boston Garden in ‘92, the lineup features guitarist/vocalist Bruce Springsteen, drummer Zack Alford, keyboardist Roy Bittan, guitarist Shane Fontayne, bassist Tommy Sims, multi-instrumentalist Crystal Taliefero and backing vocalists Gia Ciambotti, Carol Dennis, Cleopatra Kennedy, Bobby King and Angel Rogers. The 28-song show — including a seven-song encore — featured heavily on material from Human Touch, including “57 Channels (And Nothin’ On) as well as the title track with Patti Scialfa singing on the latter, and Lucky Town. Bruce would open up the show with Lucky Town’s “Better Days” and also delivered “Local Hero,” the title track and more off the LP.
The concert also featured live rarities like “The Big Muddy,” “Gloria’s Eyes,” “Soul Driver” and “Real World” as well as older favorites such as “Thunder Road,” “Born To Run,” “Badlands,” “Born In The U.S.A” (paired with Lucky Town’s “Souls of the Departed”) and “Glory Days,” the latter of which sees longtime Springsteen producer and collaborator John Landau on guitar. Bruce closed out the December show with “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.”
