DELANEY & BONNIE with THE ALLMANS – The Classic Studio Session 1971 (2022) [FLAC]

An outstanding 1971 studio concert broadcast, featuring Delaney & Bonnie and Friends, hot off the road with Eric Clapton and George Harrison, live at A&R Recording Studios in New York City – this time with friends Duane & Gregg Allman and King Curtis. The show begins acoustically (listen to D&B & Duane on “Come on in My Kitchen”) then gets rowdy and electric for the second half. There s a lot of chatter too which is endlessly fascinating and while the electric set has some minor sonic issues, the historic significance of this recording is rich the 18 minute “Only You Know And I Know”, featuring smokin leads by King Curtis & Gregg Allman is a pure joy to behold.

Speaking of historic significance, it should be remembered that both Clapton & Harrison escaped the restrictions of their respective bands to hit the road with the Bramletts, and Clapton raided D&B s Friends to form Derek & The Dominos (while the Stones snagged Bobby Keys and Jim Price who debuted on D&B s Accept No Substitute). Delaney Bramlett, who passed away in 2008 at 69, also produced and co-wrote one of Clapton s best solo albums, 1970s Eric Clapton.

Black Crowes- Transmission Impossible [3 CD, 2015/FLAC + 320]

This 3 CD set includes two discs featuring superb live radio broadcasts, recorded and transmitted in 1990 and 1991 respectively, plus a CD of band interviews and spoken word biography, all of which make for a fitting tribute to a group who, across more than 25 years, proved that in-yer-face rock music is alive and well and selling like it always has done in droves. The Black Crowes have sold over 30 million albums, and are listed at number 92 on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock". They were also labeled by Melody Maker magazine The Most Rock 'n' Roll Rock 'n' Roll Band in the World and the readers of Rolling Stone voted them 'Best New American Band' in 1990. Their discography includes nine studio albums in all, four live albums and several charting singles. After a hiatus between 2002 and 2005, the band released Warpaint, which hit number 5 on the Billboard chart. After the release of a double album, the greatest hits-like and mostly acoustic Croweology in August 2010, the band started a 20th anniversary tour that was followed by an ongoing second hiatus. The band announced that they would return in early 2013 but that December they returned to hiatus status with no specific return date. They announced their break-up in early 2015.

Harry Nilsson discography

Harry Edward Nilsson III (June 15, 1941 – January 15, 1994) was an American singer-songwriter who achieved the peak of his commercial success in the early 1970s. On all but his earliest recordings he is credited as Nilsson. He is known for the hit singles "Everybody's Talkin'" (1969), "Without You" (1971), and "Coconut" (1972). Nilsson's career is also notable for the fact that he was one of the few major pop-rock recording artists of his era to achieve significant commercial success without ever performing major public concerts or undertaking regular tours.

He was awarded Grammys for two of his recordings; best male contemporary vocal in 1969 for "Everybody's Talkin'", a prominent song in the Academy Award-winning movie Midnight Cowboy, and best male pop vocal in 1972 for "Without You."

Poco discography 1969-2002 [FLAC]

Poco
was an American country rock band originally formed in 1968 after the demise of Buffalo Springfield. Guitarists Richie Furay and Jim Messina, former members of Buffalo Springfield, were joined by multi-instrumentalist Rusty Young, bassist Randy Meisner, and drummer George Grantham. Meisner quit the band whilst they were recording their first album, Pickin' Up the Pieces, though his bass and backing vocal parts were kept in the final mix. He was replaced by Timothy B. Schmit in 1969, and Messina left in 1970 to be replaced by Paul Cotton. The line-up would change numerous times over the next several decades, with Rusty Young being the only constant member. A reunion of the founding members occurred in the late 1980s-early 1990s, and the band has continued in some form through 2021, though they retired from active touring in 2013, with Young citing health concerns as the primary cause of his retirement. Young died from a heart attack in April 2021.

Poco are considered one of the founders of the Southern California country rock sound, and three of the members of the band have been inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as members of other bands (Furay with Buffalo Springfield, Meisner and Schmit with The Eagles). However, the band has yet to receive a nomination since entering eligibility in 1995

Go Ride The Music & West Pole (1969) [2x DVD5]

This 2-DVD package comes straight from the estate of Rolling Stone co-founder Ralph J. Gleason (1917-1975)and features the heart and soul of the San Francisco psychedelic rock scene. The films contain fantastic archival footage of bands such as Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and The Grateful Dead. Although much of the footage was aged, each segment was pieced together well and much of the original sound and color were preserved on the original film. This DVD set is definitely a must have for any Jefferson Airplane fan, as much of the first disc "Go Ride The Music" focuses on performances from Jefferson Airplane, with some laid-back Quicksilver Messenger Service thrown in for good measure.

"Go Ride The Music" and "West Pole" were initially aired on television as documentary specials, so each song is interspersed with commentary from host Ralph Gleason, where he interviews young people of the times outside many of the famous San Francisco hot spots for live music.
Both discs originally aired as one-hour television shows and were produced and hosted by Gleason in an effort to show that something was really happening here and most viewers didn’t know exactly what it was. “Go Ride The Music” features Jefferson Airplane performing at an intimate indoor venue and Quicksilver Messenger Service performing live in concert in the open air. There are also cameo appearances from David Crosby and Jerry Garcia. The second disc, “West Pole”, features a diverse range of acts including Grateful Dead, Steve Miller Band and others, including Ace of Cups, the first all-female electric rock band, in various settings, and takes a more analytical look of the music and the times.
