The Kinks - At The BBC: Radio & TV Sessions And Concerts: 1964-1994 [5 CD, 2013/FLAC/@320]

Limited box set from the British rockers. This release is collated from all of the BBC owned Kinks recordings that still exist in the archive and charts the inexorable rise of the band: from the first steps on the Pye label, to the glory days as one of the greatest acts of all time. The BBC gave the band a platform and support at crucial stages in their career and The Kinks At The BBC could be seen essentially as an alternate Greatest Hits, a musical growing up in public. This incredible archive represents a great set of previously unreleased recordings in the Kinks catalog. The collection has been brought together by trawling the BBC archives, but also by inviting contributions from fans. This is a first for the band as these recordings have never been available in one place before. The Kinks At The BBC is a triumphant collection of the defining moments of a truly seminal British band, as witnessed, broadcast and archived by the voice of the nation, the BBC.

Grateful Dead - Fare Thee Well: Celebrating 50 Years of the Grateful Dead (all 5 shows , 12 CD) [FLAC + 320]

Fare Thee Well: Celebrating 50 Years of the Grateful Dead was a series of concerts which were performed by most of the surviving members of the Grateful Dead: Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart, joined by Trey Anastasio, Bruce Hornsby and Jeff Chimenti, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Grateful Dead. The performances took place at Santa Clara's Levi Stadium on June 27 and 28, 2015 and Chicago's Soldier Field on July 3, 4 and 5, 2015. These performances marked the first time Weir, Lesh, Kreutzmann and Hart had performed together since the Dead's 2009 tour and was publicized as the final time the musicians would all perform together.

The three shows in Chicago were initially announced on January 16, 2015 as the only three Fare Thee Well performances. Due to the high demand for the Chicago concerts, concert promoter Peter Shapiro announced two more concerts in Santa Clara, California on June 27 and 28, 2015.

Rainbow - A Light In The Black 1975-1984 (5 CD, 2015) [FLAC]

According to Darker Than Blue: "The first ever history of Rainbow according to the label, and a set which can’t really make it’s mind up what it wants to be. It’s got far too many alternate tracks and rough mixes to be of much interest to casual fans, so seems to be aimed at the more committed Rainbow enthusiast. It’s a difficult balance to strike, as I found out when I put that Listen Learn Read On package together for EMI some years ago and got roundly dissed in some quarters for mixing so many rarities amongst a more off the wall album track choice!

Having spent over 40 years in the music business and during this period become one of the most successful female artists and composers of the rock age, Stevie Nicks remains the blueprint and inspiration for women everywhere to try their hand in what is still a hugely male dominated industry. Boasting guts of steel, the voice of an angel and song writing skills in a league of their own, the woman born Stephanie Lynn Nicks in May 1948 is nothing short of a legend. This remarkable 3 x CD set contains a selection of superb live radio broadcast recordings of Stevie in concert, made at various points of the girl s sell-out tours of the 1980s the period which, most fans would agree, witnessed the absolute pinnacle of her solo work. Kicking off with the extraordinary show Nicks gave at LA s Wilshire Ebell Theatre, in December 1981 while promoting her debut solo record Bella Donna, the set continues with a marvellous gig performed at the famous Cuyahoga Fairgrounds venue in New York, mid-decade, while touring her Rock a Little album. On the third CD, Stevie s wonderful concert from The Summit in Houston in 1989 is featured, recorded a few months after the release of her majestic The Other Side of the Mirror record. This sublime show caps off this dynamic and delightful set of Stevie Nicks live recordings in style as it concludes this wonderful collection.

Jackson Browne - Transmission Impossible: Legendary Radio Broadcasts (3 CD, 2015) [FLAC + 320]

The three live FM radio broadcasts encompassed in this delightful package come from 1972, 1974 and 1976 respectively - for many, if not most fans, Browne s golden era.

Disc one features an in-studio session recorded at and broadcast from the RCA Studios in New York. It took place just eight months after the release of his debut and as is evident that, even at this early stage in his career, Jackson had already matured into a strong live performer and superlative composer.

Disc two boasts a show performed at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, in early spring 1974, and during which label-mate Linda Ronstadt, who was touring with Browne at the time, joins Jackson for a version of One More Song, a number by Jack Tempchin - the man who composed the lovely Eagles number Peaceful Easy Feeling.

Disc three includes the full Soundstage performance Jackson Browne gave for the regular PBS TV series of concert broadcasts in 1976. Recorded at the WTTW studios in Chicago, this concert is augmented by two bonus cuts taken from Browne s appearance on Saturday Night Live the same year.
