Bobby 'Blue' Bland - The Duke Years 1952-1962 (3 CD, 2014/FLAC)

Bobby Bland earned his enduring blues superstar status the hard way: without a guitar, harmonica, or any other instrument to fall back upon. All Bland had to offer was his magnificent voice, a tremendously powerful instrument in his early heyday, injected with charisma and melisma to spare. Just ask his legion of female fans, who deemed him a sex symbol late into his career. For all his promise, Bland's musical career ignited slowly. He was a founding member of the Beale Streeters, the fabled Memphis aggregation that also included B.B. King and Johnny Ace. Singles for Chess in 1951 (produced by Sam Phillips) and Modern the next year bombed, but that didn't stop local DJ David Mattis from cutting Bland on a couple of 1952 singles for his fledgling Duke logo.

Although rooted in soul and R&B, Lionel Richie became a global superstar of the pop charts, blurring musical borders in the 1980s with solo hits like "All Night Long (All Night)," "Hello," and "Stuck On You," as well as chart-topping collaborations like the Diana Ross duet "Endless Love" and the star-studded charity single "We Are the World" which he co-wrote with Michael Jackson. A consummate singer, songwriter, and producer, Richie steered the Commodores into their most successful period, fronting the band on late-'70s hits like "Easy" and "Three Times a Lady" before making himself a household name as one of the most dominant male solo acts of the following decade. During his commercial peak, he proved himself a master of smooth romantic balladry, sending songs like "Truly" and the Oscar-winning "Say You, Say Me," to the top of the pop charts, though he also had a knack for more uptempo fare like 1986's "Dancing On the Ceiling." Richie also forged a unique crossover connection to country music, writing and producing for Kenny Rogers and collaborating with Alabama. Although his popularity faded during the '90s and early-2000s, Richie updated his sound with 2006's Coming Home and was rewarded with his first Top Ten LP in twenty years. The singer's renaissance continued over the next decade with 2012's country-driven Tuskegee returning him to the top of the pop charts. Beginning in 2018, Richie began a new high profile role as a judge on American Idol, introducing him to younger generations of fans.

An influential singer & guitarist who recorded his best known material for the Checker and Chess labels. In 1955, Bo Diddley scored his first hit with the double sided single "Bo Diddley"/"I'm A Man" and a string of R&B hits followed through the 50's & early 60's, most notably "Diddley Daddy", "Say Man", "Roadrunner" and "Mona".

His trademark rhythm, the "Bo Diddley Beat" (shave-and-a-haircut, two bits), was an acknowledged influence on Buddy Holly, The Rolling Stones, Jim Morrison, The Yardbirds and George Thorogood, among others.

Hang On to a Dream: The Verve Recordings is a compilation album by folk artist Tim Hardin, released in 1994. It includes all Hardin's studio recordings for the Verve label as well as alternate takes, unreleased tracks, and demos.

The songs include all tracks from the albums Tim Hardin 1, Tim Hardin 2 and Tim Hardin 4 (last track not included), the latter a release of demos done by Hardin for Columbia in 1964 which were ultimately rejected at that time.

2007 digitally remastered two CD collection from the '70s and '80s British glamsters. Rockers is an the perfect companion to any Slade 'hits' collection, as it documents of one of the UK's greatest bands doing what they do best - Rockin' and Rollin'!

These tracks are a compendium (1969-1987) of music from a number of SLADE's releases over the years. Starting with "Beginnings",then on to "Play It Loud","Slade Alive!","Slayed","Old New Borrowed And Blue","Slade In Flame","Nobody's Fool",and"Whatever Happened To Slade". As the title suggests, this is a compilation of some of SLADE's most incendiary tracks from their many albums. True to it's title, the pace is almost unrelenting. Track after track of pulverizing music that this band is known for will assault your ears and make you wish you were in the band.

The Island Years is a comprehensive anthology featuring the work British rock band Spooky Tooth who released seven studio albums between 1968 and 1974.

This box set features all of those long players and even steps back a year to 1967 to make room for Supernatural Fairy Tales, an album recorded by an earlier incarnation of the band called Art.

The Island Years is available as a nine-CD box set or an eight-LP collection. All of the albums feature rare bonus material and the anthology ends with a full concert from April 1972, recorded in Germany. In total, there is over 30 previously unreleased recordings.

The Complete Hank Williams is a 1998 box set collecting almost all of the recorded works of country music legend Hank Williams, from his first recorded track in 1947 to the last session prior to his untimely death in 1953 at the age of 29. While a number of live and overdubbed songs are excluded, the ten disc collection contains 225 tracks, including studio sessions, live performances and demos. Among those 225 songs are 33 hit singles and 53 previously unreleased tracks.

Phish is a band known for musical improvisation, extended jams, blending of genres, and a dedicated fan base. Originating at the University of Vermont in 1983 (with the current line-up solidifying in 1985), the band's four members - Trey Anastasio (guitars, lead vocals), Mike Gordon (bass, vocals), Jon Fishman (drums, percussion, vacuum, vocals), and Page McConnell (keyboards, vocals) - performed together for nearly 20 years before going on hiatus in August 2004. They reunited in March 2009 for a series of three consecutive concerts played in the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Virginia, and have since resumed performing regularly.

John Wetton is best known as the lead singer and bassist of Asia, UK and the Red era of King Crimson, with an extensive solo catalog. Gear Fab Records has continued to unearth some of the most obscure '60s psychedelic sides for their massive undertaking of issuing these records region by region. It's a remarkable task, especially since so many relics from the psychedelic era have already been mined for the immensely popular Nuggets box sets, the Pebbles collections, and myriad other small-label collections. These are truly enjoyable sets of quality songs, not just the bottom of the barrel.

Capitol Records/Universal Music will explore The Beach Boys‘ 1969-1971 period with a new archive release called Feel Flows – The Sunflower and Surf’s Up Sessions 1969-1971.

Available across a number of formats – including five-CD deluxe set and 4LP vinyl box – Feel Flows features newly remastered versions of Sunflower (1970) and Surf’s Up (1971) and boasts up to 108 previously unreleased tracks, including live recordings, radio promos, alternate versions, alternate mixes, isolated backing tracks and a cappella versions.

Kenny Rogers compilations tend to drift in and out of print, yet in a sense it doesn't matter much, because most featured most of the big hits. However, very few contained them all and, as of 2004, the only collection in print that contained all his big hits, from the First Edition through the mid-'80s, was 1999's four-disc box set Through the Years, which was too exhaustive for all but dedicated Rogers fans. So, there was a need for a new, relatively concise collection that featured all the hits; hence Capitol's 42 Ultimate Hits, a double-disc set that spans Kenny's entire career, from the First Edition to two new tracks, including a duet with Whitney Duncan. There's not much missing -- a few First Edition singles, along with several post-Eyes That See in the Dark hits that weren't all that memorable, neither of which are missed -- and it could even be argued that it stretches a little bit too far into the present on its second disc, which loses its momentum halfway through. Nevertheless, these are minor complaints, since the bulk of the collection provides Kenny Rogers' biggest songs -- among them "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)," "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town," "Lucille," "Every Time Two Fools Collide," "The Gambler," "Coward of the County," "You Decorated My Life," "Lady," "Love Will Turn You Around," and "Islands in the Stream" -- in a chronological order and a listenable sequence. It may fall a little short of definitive, but it's still the best compilation on the market as of this writing.

Cactus is an American hard rock supergroup, formed in 1970.

Cactus was initially conceived as early as late 1969 by the Vanilla Fudge rhythm section of bassist Tim Bogert and drummer Carmine Appice with guitarist Jeff Beck and singer Rod Stewart (also from the already dissolved Jeff Beck Group). However, Beck had an automobile accident and was out of the music scene for over a year and Stewart joined Ronnie Wood in Faces.

Early 1970 Appice and Bogert brought in blues guitarist Jim McCarty from Mitch Ryder's Detroit Wheels and The Buddy Miles Express, and singer Rusty Day (born Russell Edward Davidson) from Amboy Dukes.
This line-up managed three albums (Cactus, One Way...Or Another and Restrictions) before intraband troubles led to McCarty quitting at the end of 1971. Shortly afterwards Day was fired from the group. The fourth and last Cactus album ('Ot 'N' Sweaty) featured original rhythm section Bogert and Appice joined by Werner Fritzschings on guitar, Duane Hitchings on keyboards and Peter French (ex-Leaf Hound and Atomic Rooster) on vocals.

Guitarist with a distinctive "twangy" sound (his own description). Born in Corning, New York, on April 28, 1938, he was one of the foremost instrumental performers of the late 1950s and early 1960s with a string of hits on both sides of the Atlantic.
