Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble - Transmission Impossible (3 CD/FLAC)
Born and raised in Dallas, TX, in 1954, Stevie Ray Vaughan moved to Austin in 1972 and formed Double Trouble in 1978 where he established the group as part of the Austin music scene, becoming one of the most popular acts in Texas. They performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1982 before being discovered by John Hammond, who interested major label Epic Records in signing them to a deal. Within months, Vaughan achieved mainstream success with Double Trouble for the critically acclaimed debut album Texas Flood. With a series of successful network television appearances and extensive concert tours, he became the leading figure in the blues revival of the 1980s. Tragically, Stevie Ray, along with four others, was killed in a helicopter crash thirty years ago, in August 1990. Vaughan s legacy however has remained hugely potent ever since, and he is still generally considered to be the finest rock and blues guitarist since Jimi Hendrix.
This elegant, triple-CD set brings together the finest live broadcast recordings made across his career, which in completion forms a stunning collection of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble s live work.
DISC ONE features a very early show from Double Trouble recorded at The King's Head Inn, Norfolk, VA, on 22nd July 1980, soon after the trio were formed.
DISC TWO brings things forward seven years to when the group played at the Mann Music Center in Philadelphia, PA., on 30th June 1987. And concluding this sterling collection,
DISC THREE is one of Double Trouble s final shows as a trio, recorded at The Alpine Valley Music Theatre, East Troy, WI, on 25th August 1990, Stevie Ray s penultimate gig before tragedy struck.
