Grateful Dead - View from the Vault, Volume Three (DVD 9/2012)

 

View from the Vault, Volume Three (or View from the Vault III) is the third release in the "View from the Vault" series by the Grateful Dead. It was released simultaneously as a three disc album on CD and as a concert performance video on DVD. It contains the June 16, 1990 show at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California.

The album also includes six songs from a show at the same venue on October 3, 1987. One of these is "My Brother Esau", the first appearance of this song on an album in CD format. The studio version had been the B-side of the "Touch of Grey" single in 1987, appeared on the cassette version of the In the Dark album, and was later released on the Beyond Description box set (it was then appended to the 2004 reissue of In the Dark). Another track from October 3, 1987 ("Maggie's Farm") had been released earlier in the year on Postcards of the Hanging.

Phish - Hampton/Winston-Salem '97 [7 CD, 2011]

Hampton/Winston-Salem '97 is a 7-CD live box set album from the American jam band Phish, recorded live at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, VA on November 21–22, 1997 and Lawrence Joel Veteran's Memorial Coliseum, Winston-Salem, NC on November 23, 1997, in the midst of Phish's legendary 1997 Fall Tour.

These shows were a memorable triad for the band and fans. They are among the most requested shows for release from the Phish Archives and make up a compelling slice of the twenty-two-show tour that stretched from Las Vegas to Albany. The Hampton/Winston-Salem '97 shows were packed with notable renditions of classics including "Split Open And Melt", "AC/DC Bag", "Slave To The Traffic Light", "Mike's Song", "Halley's Comet", "Tweezer", "Run Like An Antelope", "Stash" and "Bathtub Gin".

The band also showcased a wide variety of newer covers from the debut of the Rolling Stones' "Emotional Rescue" to Del McCoury's "Beauty Of My Dreams", Jimi Hendrix's "Izabella", Clifton Chenier's "My Soul" and even an impromptu take on War's "Low Rider". The Hampton/Winston-Salem '97 shows also showcased newer originals like "Dogs Stole Things", "Ghost", "Piper" and the brand-new-for-fall instrumental "Black-Eyed Katy", which is the only song repeated on the release.

Phish - Amsterdam [8 CD, 2015]

An all 8-CD Box Set from Phish's infrequent European shows. Full shows from 2/17/97, 7/1/97 and 7/2/97 at the Paradiso, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. On February 17, 1997 Phish first played Paradiso, a converted former church turned rock- club/cultural center with a capacity of about 1500. Over the next four months, Phish logged three breakthrough shows at this historic venue where the intimate setting pushed the music to new heights again and again. From the Soul Shakedown party opener and fluid, psychedelic improvisation-clinic-of-a-set II (Down With Disease > Carini > Taste > Down With Disease) on 2/17/97 to the “back of the worm” Ghost opener, Reba and another peak transcendent Set II [Fish Keyboard Jam > Timber (Jerry) > Bathtub Gin > Cities] on 7/1/97 through the Mike’s Groove Sandwich and must-hear Stash > Llama > Wormtown Jam plus the double encore of 7/2/97, these three shows spread over 8 CD’s comprise some of the most experimental music Phish ever played.
