Joni Mitchell - Studio Albums 1968-1979 (10 CD, 2012/FLAC)

From her beginnings as part of the Laurel canyon set, Joni Mitchell has gone on to become one of the most accomplished singer songwriters of the late 20th century. Throughout her career her music has continued to evolve and astound ranging from folk, pop, jazz and even avant-garde. Joni Mitchell has many contemporaries like Carole King, Janis Joplin, or Aretha Franklin, but none experimented so much with their artistic identities or so bravely explored territory outside of the accepted confines of pop music, resulting in a creative legacy which paved the way for performers ranging from Patti Smith and Chrissie Hynde to Madonna and Laura Marling." This box set contains 10 of Mitchell's studio albums from 1968 to 1979 and includes her critically and commercially acclaimed albums Blue and Court and Spark. Both have been named as among the best albums ever made with Blue peaking at #3 in the UK albums chart. Hit singles included in the set are 'Both Sides,' 'Now,' 'Big Yellow Taxi,' 'California,' 'Free Man in Paris' and many more.

Cousin' Joe - Gospel-Wailing, Jazz-Playing, Rock N' Rollin' Soul-Shouting, Tap-Dancing Bluesman from New Orleans (1974/FLAC)

The tellin' "How Come My Dog Don't Bark at You No More," off the Gospel-Wailing, Jazz-Playing, Rock N' Rollin' Soul-Shouting, Tap-Dancing Bluesman from New Orleans album released in 1974 on Big Bear Records, epitomizes Cousin Joe's classic piano blues style.

Joe's a pioneering blues singer born December 20, 1907 in Wallace, LA, 30 miles from New Orleans. His family moved to New Orleans when Joe was 12; he had a religious upbringing (Baptist) but soon hung around and absorbed himself in the jazz played in clubs. Joe took up guitar and ukulele, and made a living playing on the riverboats in the 30's. By 1941, he'd moved to St. Louis to play in Sidney Bechet's band, before shuffling to New York three years later. This was Joe's most fruitful recording period, he waxed many memorable songs during this era under countless names: Smiling Joe, Pleasant Joe, Brother Joshua, and Cousin Joe. The blues man recorded for a myriad of labels too, including King, Gotham, Philo, Savoy, and Decca. In NY, he worked with stars like Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker, Earl Bostic, Clark Terry, Lightnin' Hopkins, and others. He returned to New Orleans in 1947 and found employment in the clubs and joints in the '50s and '60s with an occasional European tour thrown in to break the monotony. He spent the '70s in semi-retirement.

Chris Spedding discography [1969-2015]

Chris Spedding (born Peter Robinson, 17 June 1944) is an English rock and roll and jazz guitarist, best known for his session work. Spedding is one of the UK's most versatile session guitarists, and has had a long career on two continents that saw him tackle nearly every style of rock and roll, as well as sporadically attempting a solo career. The fact that he never quite broke through to stardom, except in his native England and parts of Europe, and in professional music circles, is more a result of bad timing and worse luck than any lack of talent or commitment on his part.
