Mickey Hart - RAMU [2017] [FLAC]

Since Rolling Thunder in 1972, percussionist Mickey Hart has been the Grateful Dead’s most prolific — and most inventive — solo artist. His latest album, RAMU, named after his long-running Random Access Musical Universe database, combines archival samples, funky polyrhythms and rich melodies into a sonic tapestry.

The new record, produced by former Pretty Lights collaborator Michal Menert, features guests like Animal Collective’s Avey Tare and Tank and the Bangas Tarriona “Tank” Ball, plus recordings of two late Hart collaborators, Jerry Garcia and Nigerian drummer and activist Babatunde Olatunji, and field recordings from late ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax. Musicians on the album also include Zakir Hussain, Oteil Burbridge, Steve Kimock, String Cheese Incident’s Jason Hann, Sikiru Adepoju, Giovanni Hidalgo and Charles Lloyd.

VA - The Many Faces of Doors [3 CD, 2015] [FLAC]

No one can deny that The Doors is one of the essentials bands in the history of rock. With tons of charisma (let's not forget that -at the time- Jim Morrison was referred by the press as "the American Mick Jagger"), a very personal sound and with an incredible catalog, The Doors have become not only a key band of the genre, but also a source of inspiration for countless artists. In this triple album, 'The Many Faces Of The Doors' we get into the secret world of the band, with hard-to-find tracks, side projects by its members, remakes and also, their roots. With a great cover art, a selection of songs that took a couple of years of work to secure, a remastered sound and liner notes, The Many Faces Of The Doors is a unique album, which is already being praised by many fans of the band.

VA - A Stack of Blues (2014, 3CD.FLAC)

This opulent three-disc set offers 60 classic tracks, all of which have been covered by or, at the least, influenced later performers. Some of the artists B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, the Kings will be more familiar than others, but the music is uniformly potent.
