Locomotive (originally The Locomotive) were a British band in the 1960s, from Birmingham. Their musical styles ranged from jazz to psychedelic rock and ska, and their original line-up featured Chris Wood, later of Traffic, and drummer Mike Kellie of Spooky Tooth. They had a minor UK hit in 1968 with "Rudi's in Love", before turning to progressive rock with their only album, We Are Everything You See, released in 1970.

Elton John - Elton John (Limited Edition 50th Anniversary) [2 LP, 2020/FLAC]

Elton John is the second studio album by English singer-songwriter Elton John, released on 10 April 1970 by DJM Records. It was released by Uni Records as John's debut album in the United States; many people there assumed it was his first album, as Empty Sky was not released in that country until 1975.

The album includes John's breakthrough single "Your Song", and helped to establish his career during what was considered the "singer-songwriter" era of popular music. In the US, it was certified gold in February 1971 by the RIAA. In the same year, it was nominated for the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.

Uriah Heep - Very 'Eavy, Very 'Umble [2 CD Deluxe Edition, 2016] [24-96]

...Very 'Eavy ...Very 'Umble is the debut studio album by British rock band Uriah Heep.

The album was released on 13 June 1970 by Vertigo Records in the UK. The original vinyl release was a gatefold sleeve, featuring frontman David Byron on the front sleeve, almost unrecognisable beneath cobwebs.

It was issued in August 1970 by Mercury Records in the United States as just Uriah Heep with different sleeve artwork (a centipede type monster), and with the track "Bird of Prey" in place of "Lucy Blues". The album was reissued by Bronze Records in 1971 after the band signed to that label.

The album shows the band trying out various genres – a mix of heavy metal and progressive rock – rather than the hard rock that they would become known for on later albums. Tracks 3 and 8 were recorded as Spice songs prior to the band's renaming as Uriah Heep, and featured session player Colin Wood on keyboards. When Ken Hensley joined Spice in early 1970, the tracks were not re-recorded.

Bob Dylan - The Rolling Thunder Revue - The 1975 Live Recordings [14 CD, 2019] [FLAC]

The Rolling Thunder Revue era in Bob Dylan’s career maintains a central place apparently. The 14-disc Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1975 Live Recordings is the third release in his catalogue to document it. The first was Hard Rain, for a 1978 television special. 2002’s double-disc Bootleg Volume 5 compiled selected performances from the first leg of the tour. This box offers five complete Dylan concerts from 1975: four from Massachusetts, one from Montreal, three discs of rehearsals, and a disc of rarities. 119 of 148 tracks were previously unreleased.

Jesus Christ Superstar (1970)- 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition (3 CD,2021/FLAC)

Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s 1970 concept album Jesus Christ Superstar is being reissued for its 50th anniversary.

The record was a effectively a stepping stone to the full musical theatre production since Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber (unknowns at the time), were initially unable to find a producer to back their idea. MCA Records were willing to put out the album which used a full orchestra and included the talents of Deep Purple’s Ian Gillan, Murray Head, and Yvonne Elliman

Lloyd Webber remembers the challenges well: “A musical about Jesus Christ! Back in 1969 the mere thought had theatre producers falling about with laughter. But somehow Tim Rice and I persuaded MCA to record a single. It came at a time when fusion was all the rage. The Rolling Stones had recorded with the London Bach Choir. Deep Purple’s Jon Lord composed a symphony for rock band and orchestra. So I was like a kid in a sweet shop when I was able to combine a rock band, a symphony orchestra and a gospel choir in what was the first track to be recorded, simply titled ‘Superstar’.“

The enormous success of the album at the time (it topped the American charts) led to Broadway and West End stage productions in 1971 and 1972 respectively.

The album is being reissued as a 3CD deluxe package in a 10-inch box. This offers the original album remastered (by Miles Showell and Nick Davis at Abbey Road) and a bonus CD of previously unreleased guide vocals and demos from the project, plus B-sides and rarities.

Rainbow - A Light In The Black 1975-1984 (5 CD, 2015) [FLAC]

According to Darker Than Blue: "The first ever history of Rainbow according to the label, and a set which can’t really make it’s mind up what it wants to be. It’s got far too many alternate tracks and rough mixes to be of much interest to casual fans, so seems to be aimed at the more committed Rainbow enthusiast. It’s a difficult balance to strike, as I found out when I put that Listen Learn Read On package together for EMI some years ago and got roundly dissed in some quarters for mixing so many rarities amongst a more off the wall album track choice!

Paul Gilbert - The Dio Album (2023) [24-48]

Nobody sensible would argue with Paul Gilbert's credentials, or indeed his enormous talent. Whether raising the bar for heavy metal with the perennially underrated RACER-X, conquering soft rock radio with MR. BIG or simply being one of the most technically gifted and creative guitarists on the planet, he is a certified walking benchmark for six-string artistry. He is also still more than capable of a surprise or two. Rather than paying tribute to another legendary guitarist from the past, as is so often the case with projects like this, Gilbert has made the laudable move of exploring the greatest hits of Ronnie James Dio, thus revealing both excellent taste and a gently subversive streak. On "The Dio Album", he casually becomes the late vocalist, albeit playing those glorious melody lines on the guitar, with his customary virtuoso flair and an often-startling amount of aggression. In truth, it's a slightly bizarre idea that sits somewhere between outright genius and goofy novelty, but Gilbert plays with such joy that only the most insular and petulant DIO fans could possibly take exception to it.

Rory Gallagher - Rory Gallagher (50th Anniversary Edition Mix) (1971/2021) [24-96]

Irishman Rory Gallagher is forever associated with the golden age of British blues-rock. It's the kind of music that you can enjoy in a pub with a pint of beer in your hand on a rainy afternoon rather than in the glare of a glitzy stadium. After a few years and a couple of albums as the leader of the band Taste, a contemporary of Cream and Led Zeppelin and very much of its time, Gallagher released this first album under his own name...

Rolling Stones - 60's UK EP Collection (2011) [24-88].rar

As the title states, this 2011 compilation wrangles up some Rolling Stones EPs from the '60s—specifically, three EPs (and their outstanding b-sides) from 1964. During this embryonic stage the Stones belonged to the late, great Brian Jones, who was interested in grooming the band as the best blues and R&B outfit to soundtrack swinging London’s burgeoning mod scene. Here, the Stones open with a hard-grooving take on Chuck Berry’s “Bye Bye Johnny,” one of many “Johnny B. Goode” derivatives that would help define Keith Richards’ early guitar style. With Richards' and Jones’ tube amps cranked well past the breaking point, a raunchy cover of Barrett Strong’s “Money” sounds like the birth of garage rock. Mick Jagger’s vocals on a simmering rendition of Arthur Alexander’s “You Better Move On” display his early yearning to sing in a style beyond the band's rave-ups of the era. Conversely, when the Stones revisit another Chuck Berry tune—“Around and Around”—and do a live version of “Route 66,” both play as though young Jagger was born to sing the blues.

Buddy Guy 1967-2018 [FLAC]

George "Buddy" Guy (born July 30, 1936) is an American blues guitarist and singer. He is an exponent of Chicago blues who has influenced generations of guitarists including Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Beck, Gary Clark Jr. and John Mayer. In the 1960s, Guy played with Muddy Waters as a session guitarist at Chess Records and began a musical partnership with blues harp virtuoso Junior Wells.

David Grisman Quintet - First Recordings - Live in Dawg’s Living Room (1975/2022) [24-96]

These recently discovered performances are the very first recordings of the David Grisman Quintet, made shortly after Tony Rice’s arrival to join the group in October, 1975. As David states in the liner notes, “Even though this band had been rehearsing for only a few weeks, the energy and spirit of the music was already very focused and exuberant — a pivotal moment in American string band music and my personal musical journey.” In addition to the Dawg, the original members of the quintet heard hear are Tony Rice on guitar, Darol Anger on violin, Todd Phillips on mandolin and Joseph Carroll on bass. The original tape was transferred to the HD format (24 bit, 96khz), and will be of interest to every fan of this ground-breaking ensemble.

  • Tony Rice - guitar

Lou Reed - RCA & Arista Album Collection (16 CD, 2016) [24-96 + 320]

In 1972, Lou Reed was a minor cult hero to a handful of rock critics and left-of-center music fans who championed his former band, the Velvet Underground, but he was unknown to the mainstream music audience. By 1986, Reed was a rock & roll icon, widely hailed as a master songwriter and one of the founding fathers of punk, glam, noise rock, and any number of other vital rock subgenres; he even scored a few hits along the way. If you want to know what happened during those 14 years to make such a difference, the answer can be found in The RCA & Arista Album Collection, a 16-disc box set that brings together nearly all of Reed’s recorded work from this period.

Uriah Heep - Demons And Wizards (Deluxe Edition)(2017 Remastered) [24-96-44]

Demons and Wizards is the fourth studio album by British rock band Uriah Heep, released 19 May 1972 by Bronze Records in the UK and Mercury Records in the US.

This is the album that solidified Uriah Heep's reputation as a master of gothic-inflected heavy metal. From short, sharp rock songs to lengthy, musically dense epics, Demons and Wizards finds Uriah Heep covering all the bases with style and power.

Demons and Wizards was remastered and reissued by Castle Communications in 1996 with three bonus tracks, and again in 2003 in an expanded deluxe edition. In 2017, Sanctuary Records released a two-disc deluxe edition.

Bob Dylan - The Rundown Rehearsal Tapes (4 CD, 2002) [FLAC]

During the winter months of 1978, Bob Dylan conducted rehearsals for his upcoming 115-date world tour in downtown Santa Monica's aptly named Rundown Studios. Captured for posterity by engineers Arthur Rosato and Joel Bernstein, the Rundown tapes represent a remarkably panoramic window into Dylan's creative process as he reinvents his classic songs via improvised lyrics and arrangements that gradually transform the raw, fiery melodies into larger-than-life pop fantasias seemingly earmarked for the casino ballrooms of Las Vegas.

The four-CD bootleg box set The Rundown Rehearsal Tapes is an embarrassment of riches for the serious Dylan enthusiast, encompassing virtually every landmark in his storied songbook as well as some new compositions and a handful of traditional blues standards that never made it past the rehearsal stage. Even then-recent songs like "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go" and "If You See Her, Say Hello" are completely reinvented into forms barely recognizable from their familiar studio LP renditions. Perhaps most noteworthy is the fourth disc, recorded in April as an audition for bassist Jerry Scheff. Both "We'd Better Talk This Over" and "Coming from the Heart" make their debut, and while the former later resurfaced on Street Legal, the latter soon disappeared forever. Sound quality is somewhat erratic, but the sheer volume and consistency of the material makes it mandatory listening regardless of its flaws.
