Still on Top - The Greatest Hits is the third compilation album to be issued by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison in 2007. It was released October 22, 2007 in the UK in a 2CD album with 37 tracks and with a 3CD Digipak limited edition box set also available on initial release of the album in the UK.

It was released on November 06, 2007 in the US and Canada on a single disc with 21 tracks and is also available as an MP3 download.

The tracks consist of Morrison's biggest hits from 1964 as leader of the Northern Irish band Them through his 2005 release Magic Time.

Hot Tuna is an American blues-rock band formed by bassist Jack Casady and guitarist Jorma Kaukonen as a spin-off of Jefferson Airplane. It plays acoustic and electric versions of original and traditional blues songs.

Hot Tuna began during a hiatus in Jefferson Airplane's touring schedule in early 1969 while Grace Slick was undergoing recovery from throat node surgery that had left her unable to perform. Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady, Paul Kantner, and new drummer Joey Covington played several shows around San Francisco including the Airplane's original club, The Matrix before Jefferson Airplane returned to performing in April to support the album Volunteers. Although Covington had been hired as Jefferson Airplane's drummer, Spencer Dryden continued to perform with the Airplane and Covington was only called when needed. Their early repertoire was derived mainly from Airplane material that Jorma played and covers of American country blues artists such as Rev. Gary Davis, Jelly Roll Morton, Bo Carter and Arthur Blake (Blind Blake). In addition to these shows, Jack & Jorma would play as a duo with Jorma on acoustic guitar. In September, 1969, the week of concerts performed at New Orleans House in Berkeley was recorded and released as a live album in 1970, Hot Tuna. This album is affectionately known by Tunaphiles as the "breaking glass album", because of the sound of breaking beer glasses during the recording of "Uncle Sam Blues". Jorma's brother Peter Kaukonen soon replaced Paul on rhythm guitar and Marty Balin joined on vocals for the electric songs. Starting in October 1969, Hot Tuna would perform as opening act to Jefferson Airplane with a combination of both electric and acoustic sets, giving Kaukonen and Casady an opportunity to explore their love of traditional blues music, and also giving Balin and Covington a chance to explore soul-rock compositions. In 1970, RCA paid for the band to go to Jamaica to record their next album, now with Paul Ziegler taking over Peter's spot, but the album was never finished. Papa John Creach was brought in to the band in late 1970 (Creach also joined Jefferson Airplane at the same time) and Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna finished their co-tour in November 1970 with shows at the Fillmore East.

Singers and Songwriters was a 19-volume album series issued by Time-Life in the US, during the early 2000s, spotlighting songs from the singer-songwriter era of the 1970s. Songs on the series included music written and performed by an artist, and artists who covered a well-known songwriter's material; as such, a large majority of the music was stylistically similar to what was heard on soft rock and (sometimes) contemporary hit radio stations during the 1970s and early 1980s.

Featuring live broadcast recordings from the 70s and 80s, this triple disc set provides a superb illustration of the power of David Crosby in concert. Kicking off with an in-studio appearance when David was joined by members of the Grateful Dead way back in December 1970 – shortly before the release of his first solo album If I Could Only Remember My Name – and the set continues with a fine 1986 performance recorded on New Year s Eve that year when Crosby opened for the Dead at their traditional Hogmanay bash. Concluding the set, the third CD contains the great man s majestic 1989 show from the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia, recorded while out promoting his second solo record, Oh Yes I Can.

Gimme Some Truth is a box set by English musician John Lennon, released in 2010 by EMI. It contains four themed discs of remastered songs. The box set was released along with John Lennon Signature Box box set and Power to the People: The Hits compilation in conjunction with what would have been Lennon's 70th birthday.

The Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead 1987 Tour was a concert tour by Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead taking place in the summer of 1987 and consisting of six concerts. Each concert began with one or two lengthy sets by the Grateful Dead of their own material (sometime broken into a first and second set, per the Dead's usual practice), followed by a roughly 90 minute set of the Dead acting as Dylan's backup band.

Charley Jordan (January 1, 1890 - November 15, 1954) was a St. Louis blues singer, songwriter and guitarist, as well as a talent scout, originally from Mabelvale, Arkansas. He was known for a unique style that drew on his rural roots.

Jordan recorded numerous singles for Vocalion and Decca between 1930 and 1937, and also performed with some well-regarded bluesmen from the 1920s to the 1940s. Jordan recorded with Peetie Wheatstraw, Roosevelt Sykes, Casey Bill Weldon and Memphis Minnie. He had most of his biggest hits, including "Keep It Clean", in the early to mid 1930s. Later in that decade and into the 1940s, he worked frequently with Big Joe Williams.

Blood, Sweat & Tears (also known as "BS&T") is a contemporary jazz-rock American music group, active throughout the later part of the 20th century and still into the 21st. They are well known for their music throughout the late 1960s to early 1970's, and they were well known for their combination of brass and rock band instrumentation. It recorded songs by noted rock/folk songwriters such as Laura Nyro, James Taylor, The Band, the Rolling Stones, as well as Billie Holiday, and Erik Satie. They incorporated music from Thelonious Monk and Sergei Prokofiev into their arrangements.

There have been many Grand Funk Railroad compilations released over the years but these two sets put the albums in the well named Trunk of Funk and releases them in two bite sized chunks. For Grand Funk fans looking to replace their vinyl with remastered CDs, these two Trunk of Funk boxes are a good way to start. Included are the group’s first four albums - their 1969 debut, On Time, and their 1970 trio of releases; Grand Funk, Closer to Home, and Live Album - plus previously unreleased tracks. The original Dave Tedds masters have been used and each box has an essay by Malcolm Dome as well as original album credits.

Time Life music collections are always solid, well-done affairs, and this one, which features classic early era rock & roll hits from 1955 to 1964, is no exception. Every track is a hands down winner, and it's always wonderful to hear all the timeless gems.

For the past ten years, Mark Hummel has brought together some of the world's finest blues harmonica players to perform under one roof. This blistering two CD set was recorded live at Moe's Alley in Santa Cruz, California at the Blues Harp Blowout 2000 and includes performances by RJ Mischo, Gary Smith, Mark Hummel, James Harman, Rick Estrin, Kim Wilson and Billy Branch with Junior Watson.

A belated sequel to Rhino's 2012 box set The Studio Albums 1969-1978, 2015's The Studio Albums: 1979-2008 rounds up the expanded remasters of Chicago's next ten studio albums, beginning with 1979's Chicago 13 and ending with 2008's Chicago XXXII: Stone of Sisyphus (which was actually recorded in 1994 but shelved for 14 years). Some of the group's biggest hits are here -- Chicago 16, Chicago 17, Chicago 18, Chicago 19 -- but so are some of their odder albums, like 1995's Night & Day: Big Band and, generally, some fans of the band's earliest music may find this a shade too slick. Nevertheless, for the hardcore, this is a handsome way to get the remasters, and for more casual fans, it's a convenient and relatively affordable way to get Chicago's best albums in one place.

Apart from The Complete BBC sessions, this is the one bootleg that all British Beatle fans should own. In addition to an excellent selection of studio outtakes, it includes every known British concert recording between 1963 and 1965, as well as key interviews and spoken performances such as Juke Box Jury. This captures, what the British experience of Beatlemania felt like at the time. Even the later, admittedly more tedious, interviews, remind us of how it was towards the end. In short, a necessary and highly enjoyable part of any serious Beatles fan's collection, whether you happened to be there or not.

Earth and Fire were a Progressive and Symphonic Rock and in their later stages Pop group formed in the Netherlands by brothers Chris and Gerard Koerts. Most popular in the 1970s when fronted by singer Jerney Kaagman, Earth and Fire had many chart topping hits in the Netherlands and elsewhere in Europe, though they never gained much popularity in England or the Americas. Their biggest international hit was "Weekend", number one in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark and Portugal.

An occasional quartet, the first singer-songwriter supergroup and, in their day, one of the most successful US bands on the live circuit, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young have always been a quite extraordinary proposition. This 3 X CD Set contains broadcast recordings from CSNY s heyday, which together form a majestic collection of their live work. Kicking off with an early show recorded at the Fillmore East in New York, in June 1970, the set continues with a fine gig from the group s 1974 reunion tour, at the Roosevelt Raceway on Long Island, also in New York. Alongside Willie Mae Ford Smith, Sister Rosetta Tharpe is widely acclaimed among the greatest Sanctified gospel singers of her generation; a flamboyant performer whose music often flirted with the blues and swing, she was also one of the most controversial talents of her day, shocking purists with her leap into the secular market -- by playing nightclubs and theaters, she not only pushed spiritual music into the mainstream, but in the process also helped pioneer the rise of pop-gospel. Tharpe was born March 20, 1915 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas; the daughter of Katie Bell Nubin, a traveling missionary and shouter in the classic gospel tradition known throughout the circuit as "Mother Bell," she was a prodigy, mastering the guitar by the age of six. At the same time, she attended Holiness conventions alongside her mother, performing renditions of songs including "The Day Is Past and Gone" and "I Looked Down the Line."

This hi-res collection of the Grateful Dead's studio work has been painstakingly produced from the original master tapes of each album, using their original mixes to produce a work that is truer to the original sound than any previous release. Ultimate Queen is a 1995 twenty-disc limited edition box set compilation of recordings by the English rock band Queen.

The box set is a 26" square, wall mountable cabinet which includes 20 CDs, featuring all 18 studio and live albums released from 1973 to 1995 (excluding Greatest Hits, Greatest Hits II, Greatest Hits III and Queen at the Beeb). The set was released on 13 November 1995, one week after the 'Made In Heaven' album, and was limited to just 15,000 sets worldwide. 3000 sets were available in the UK, 1850 in Germany, 1200 in Australia, 1200 in Benelux countries, 1000 in Brazil, 900 in Japan, and it was also released in the USA.

Top of the Pops, also known as TOTP, was a British music chart television programme, made by the BBC and originally broadcast weekly from 1 January 1964 to 30 July 2006. It was traditionally shown every Thursday evening on BBC One, before being moved to Fridays in 1996, and then moved to Sundays on BBC Two in 2005. Each weekly programme consisted of performances from some of that week's best-selling popular music artists, with a rundown of that week's singles chart. Additionally, every year there was a special edition of the programme on Christmas Day featuring some of the best-selling singles of the year.

This two-disc set draws on music from the 1920s to the 1990s, and includes songs from Bessie Smith ("Do Your Duty"), Etta James ("Good Rockin' Daddy"), Alberta Hunter ("I Got Myself a Working Man"), Koko Taylor ("Jump for Joy") Sippie Wallace, and Hadda Brooks.

Colosseum discography [1969-2014]

Colosseum is a pioneering British progressive jazz-rock band mixing progressive rock and jazz-based improvising.

The band was formed in 1968 by drummer Jon Hiseman, tenor sax player Dick Heckstall-Smith and bass player Tony Reeves, who had previously worked together in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers on the Bare Wires album. Dave Greenslade, on organ, was immediately recruited, and the line-up was completed by Jim Roche on guitar. Roche only recorded one track before being replaced by James Litherland, (guitar and vocals).

A 3-CD set, “Looking Through A Glass Onion” assembles these disparate strands into one cohesive package, with the studio day trippers, the cultural pranksters, the genre-benders, the folk club stalwarts and the hair-down-to-his-knees prog-rock brigade all grooving up slowly to the starting line.

The result is the proverbial Magical Mystery Tour, a Fab Four parallel universe, a Looking-Glass world in which ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’ can be an Elizabethan garden party madrigal or a churning slice of Fudged-up sludge, where a spaced-out Duffy Power takes the lyrics of ‘Fixing A Hole’ perhaps a little too literally, ‘Penny Lane’ becomes avant-garde easy listening, the likes of Nick Lowe, Alex Harvey and Ritchie Blackmore try out early identities, and the Walrus was Lol.

Lead Belly, also spelled Leadbelly, byname of Huddie William Ledbetter, (born January 21, 1885?, Jeter Plantation, near Mooringsport, Louisiana, U.S.—died December 6, 1949, New York, New York), American folk-blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist whose ability to perform a vast repertoire of songs in a variety of styles, in conjunction with his notoriously violent life, made him a legend.
